|
 |
I have a Asus a8n-sli-premium mobo. My question is, can i boot up on a Sata drive. I have tried googling for it but either i am not putting in the right key words or i am not able to boot on a Sata drive. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
If it's not broke, i can fix it

I don't know, haven't really looked at reviews but from a quick read of ASUS' homepage you should be able too...

usually you can boot from anything attached to a mobo. I guess thats why you didnt find anything, because it's been a feature for mobos like forever.
Just enable the sata-controller (if it isnt by default) and set it as the first device in the boot-chain.

Yeah you can. With this board you can also boot from a RAID 0,1,0+1,JBOD (also RAID 5 if you customize the BIOS) array made of 4xSATA or 2xIDE drives (Nforce 4 SLI Southbridge), and a RAID 0,1,10,5 array of 4xSATA drives with the Silicon Image 3114R RAID controller.

Hmm, thought it was weird that he wouldn't be able to boot off a Sata hard drive, but I really only got into PCs last year so my knowledge is still limited, thats why NFOrce is so cool
