How can i forge swords? I'm half through the game and still haven't managed it. In dialog with the smith i chose the hammer option then in the menu i have some swords to buy from him some to sell from me and some meteorites/runes also to sell. How can i decide wich sword to reforge and with wich meteorites/runes?

you need 3 peices of meteorite (SP?) in your inventory when you select the forge option, you will then have a choice to "buy" the new forged sword.

How can you make swords better? I have these sharpening stones or so and they say +20% damage with swords. How do you apply them?

They work similar to oils, right click on them and "combine" them with your currently equipped weapon to give a (temporary) boost to damage or special abilities.
(Diamong dust is quite effective for this when it comes to added damage unless you need to use a specific oil against creatures like the undead/necrophages.)

you can just drag and drop stuff onto your weapon in the inventory page, then when you go back to the game, it'll be applied.

There's a crack on Gamecopyworld now for version 1.2, based on the Russian version which I assume is protected by Starforce - still it should work fine on the english Tages protected version. Smile

Game works fine on sse1 cpu`s. Russian crack for 1.2 doesn`t work for me (error appears).
But this works fine:
The Witcher v1.2 [MULTI5] No-CD/Fixed Image/Easy Starter LooP with NS-TW_SS-POSEDEN.MDS and DAEMON Tools Lite v4.11 from gcw.

what freedom did you want? did you want to turn geralt into a merchant? that seems to be the main complaint i see from people who play the game.. everyone seems to think that it needs to be like other directionless rpgs like ff7 or oblivion, where they could carry 40 swords to a shop and sell them for lots of moneys Very Happy

my only complaint is now we have to wait a few years to see the continuation of the story!! i hope theyre working on an additional chapter or something - a few extra missions or something, to help make the time go by a little easier... definately playing this game again in a month, this time being evil and supporting the elves, muhahaha

How the hell is FF7 directionless? That game is pretty linear, especially compared to todays RPGs.

how about the ability to actually walk off the stupid preset paths? oh wait I cant fucking jump 1 foot in the air over this stone thats in my way. yes it was a very good game but the engine with its preset path bullshit makes this only a great game rather than an awesome game. I hope the sequel has a new engine with FREEDOM!

oh come on, thats like complaining about every single game in existance because every 'closed' door u come too cant be 'realistically' bashed down... i dont really have any problem making guided paths in this particular game - it keeps the story on track and in focus, rather than allowing the player to just wonder off and get distracted... like i said before, the games focus is on story and a very specific character and set of events... it hasnt been designed to be an open world game with a tacked on after-thought of a story...

now you are just being silly, you guys know exactly what I mean and prob agree though you cant admit it. Wink
didnt come to argue with fanboys. Very Happy
stated my opinion and im right. Razz Laughing
as i have repeatedly said the game is great but wouldve been better with a little more freedom in movement. thats a poor excuse saying so you dont wander off and forget what you are doing. they took the easy way, reworking an old game engine, simpole as that. but yes they spent a long time writing a good story which more than makes up for it.

especially the paths in the first chapter sucked and felt like being thrown back to the mediocre fable. Everything after chapter 1 is good though. You dont really need to be able to jump, because Geralt will get up where he can and will not jump down places where he wouldnt do it. It keeps the character more believable and in tune with the story. If you want freedom you can still go to the swamp and dance around naked dryads or so Very Happy

didnt the readme for the crack state that the save-games should be in the system folder when using it? Try copying the files over there. Or read the readme again. Cant really remember as the crack didnt do squat for me...
