maybe sent you a completely different console. Perhaps replaced only your case. Did you mark the parts inside? the DVD? maybe they went on live with dodgy copies to test it. You may just have been due to be banned.

Gave you the innards of a banned box. Is it your same one for sure? Did you put a mark on it or something so you know it's your case? Also, you can swap the shell.

ah well screw it!! I modded it, so I guess I deserve the consequences...if they tricked me someway, they will get it one way or the other...I always believe what goes around comes around!!!

i seriously doubt they replaced the console, for one why would they replace a broken console with a known working one, banned or not a working console is more valuable then a rrod one, xboxpros has been tested by some users down at xbox-scene whove sent their boxes to them got them back and opened up their boxes to see what repairs they carried out (no console swapping has ever been mentioned before)
Its not economically viable for xboxpros to replace parts to get someones xbox working, they just do the xclamp fix which requires like 5 bucks worth of screws and use a heatgun to heat up the solder of the gpu chip. If it cant be fixed via this method, theyll just tell you they cant fix it and send u back the box and refund your repair fee.
Clearly chak has modded his console and it has been banned in the recent waves whilst it was away for repair. Its not rocket science.
To be honest, youve been scammed by not repairing your box yourself, all xboxpros do is X clamp replacement and possibly heat up the board, if youve experience in building pcs (putting thermal paste on heatsinks) then youve no reason to send a box off to a repair place unless its a 'proper' repair which costs 100 quid at least and invovles high tech equipment to professionally reball the gpu to the motherboard. On a sad note, your xbox will die again as youve only had it fixed temporarily, the best way to keep it going is to keep it horizontal and try to keep it as cool as possible.

I know its not very good morrally correct (seen as thats why we are all here lol) but the best way to sort a fucked xbox is to go buy a new one and put yours in its place and take it back for a full refund (faulty goods have to be refunded if they are returned in a certain amount of time) you an probably even get away with not swapping the shells so the serials match up, I had a ps2 that died that I had had for a while I bought one at GAME (UK) put mine its box and took it back the same day all they did was plug it in and confirm what I told them that it wouldnt even come on and I got my money back, the funniest thing is that I did swap the shells over but the way I did the warranty sticker wasnt the best and could have been spotted by anyone paying even a little bit of attention to it. Dont feel guilty about doing it they rip us off daily.

yep done it with tesco with my banned xbox , flashed the new one and returned within 2 hours , Never swapped the casing but cleaned it up a small bit
just said that i found a wii so no need for xbox , they never even opened the box to check ( swapped a joypad that had a wonky bumper )

I think in the case of RROD i agree with adslmaster. Downloading games is theft period, tell the judge when your being sentenced that it's different.
Edit:
TBH i think you get in more trouble for piracy then doing what adslmaster had mentioned.

i had a premium box,banned from live.have a new one(arcade)i play only originals.may i have a chance to bann again???or if i play with full stealth patched games ,they gonna bann me?or it's in the update???i have the latest dash update ,and still online.

Its the "Firmware" hacks that are banned right....
what happens if someone uses for example a NME chip or a Infectus?
Have anyone heard reports on these being banned?

to date we can state that modded firmwares are not visible to microsoft, hence wont get you banned. otherwise more consoles would have been banned.
the bannings are based on backup issues (non-stealth/wrong ss/etc) ... some also on fan mods apparently (?)

I was thinking something along those lines or like some people have said, logged into live, flashed, logged back in -- banned. As if live does a check sum or something on the firmware then the next time it does if there is a change it knows. I can't claim to know what it is this round nobody knows for sure yet, but it certainly seems plausible to me.

I modded my box before connecting to LIVE the very first time... Now I keep my FW up to date, now running iXtreme 1.4... Still not banned, play backup of Halo 3 that I originally downloaded a week before release everyday...
I am wondering if you mod before connecting, if that has anything to do with not getting banned?

no xvid/divx/hd playback

you got me Microsoft. I am thinking of going legit and getting a new 360. Anyway I dont play that many games any more. Just this sunday, I gave away most of my backups made from 2006 onwards.I am only keeping COD4, Bioshock and Forza 2. I am already renting games for the ps3, I can just add on any 360 games that are interesting.

im on xtreme 5.2 and still unbanned...
then again, i play safe, seperate gamertag for backups offline (cable unplugged), live account is played with retails only. so basically, if the multiplayer is worth it, ill buy it
