Ok, I don't know how well this will work other places, and I doubt you can do it at the same area again.

In big towns there are always to few parking spaces, and to much to pay etc. etc.
So I tried this in the busiest parking guard checking time Very Happy I just faked a breakdown, turned on the emergency/warning flashers, popped the hood, made it look real. Sat the car not to far from the place I was going in too, bought some stuff... got back, checked the oil etc. Very Happy...and just drove right away. Noone is gonna give a guy a ticket for having a breakdown.

It would probably have been even more realistic if I had a Volvo 240 or a french car Razz

Didnt block any cars tho.. it wasnt to hard for cars to get around. And don't think people (or the parking guards) would like to find out I faked it Very Happy

Anyway, worked great...and yes, iv got very little to do sometimes Sad

Hehe nice! Quite creative.
Though I would take any chances around here. After all, the more fines they give, the merrier.

Well, while I was in the store I tought of the same. But I hoped people had a little sympathy for a guy that are trying to get his car fixed Very Happy I think some people looked at me and was like... "why the hell did he go str8 away to the store."

I could also use a big red warning triangle. And what you GOT to take on when a thing like this happens:

usually the cleverest way to save parking money is when you get fined and have got the ticket. It usually has 1 month due date...so whenever you park in a priced parking lot, put the same ticket under your wiper and go mind your business. Yo will not get fined twice at least for a month Razz

Also you can use the same ticket for ages. Parking officers usually do not read the fine printed or hand written text when they lure around. They just register that you already have got a ticket so they won't bother you any more Very Happy

nah, but was thinking about it. Didnt use the red triangle either. Was really quick in the store too... I don't think I would have tried this in a bigger town, like Oslo. Well, big town... that is above 200.000 people here Razz As we are 4.7mill in total.

sabalasa: yeah I know, but the parking guards here aren't that lazy, they check the time and date very well Sad

At a Norwegian comedy show a guy tried to lay 30-40 old ones in the windshield, the parking guard got so frustrated that he just went away. Even tho there could have been one valid he didnt bother to check that many.

yeah, we have lots of northern small towns

Toronto as far as I know, is the biggest city in Canada, people wise. I know the GTA is the biggest (GTA = Great Toronto Area)

there are plenty of places to park short-term on the street in Toronto anyways. 'All-day' parking lots are fucking expensive, but you can street park some places for up to an hour free and others it is only like $2/hr (to max of 3 hours).

oh and yeah, not quite the same as norway Wink
City of Toronto = 2,503,281
Greater Toronto Area = 5,555,912
Golden Horseshoe (southern part of the province around Toronto) = 8,102,163

We got short term parking here too (30min post palces) but in the town I work in they have started with this new system: You got to have a paperthing (stupid round clock. I heard you also can write it down on a paper when you came as long as its visible for the parking guards) you have to show how long you have been parking. Lots of people forget that and the state have earned a lot because of that. Its only this town afaik.

yeah that's funny they put the burden on the driver. here the parking enforcement has to mark down when they first see you park and then come back later to give a ticket -- so in reality you can park longer than you are allowed to since they are busy going around and not just watching your car Razz

I think they kinda have to do that here, but they are some lazy bastards. Don't really think the system works that great. They also LOVE to give fines to people that for example parks 4.7 meters from something they got to be 5 meters away from.
