whats the pros and cons on vista
ive not installed it yet as havnt needed to, only thing would be for dx10

i know its like when we all went from windows 98 to windows xp but heard vista was more intrusive of the system..
allso whats it like with old games and apps.

it takes longer to boot
some games and apps won't work, depends how old they are

u need at least 1gb of ram just to try it out and 2gb to run it smoothly

u could wait till SP1 of course [it really needs one, badly], but u can try it now too

personally i'm using xp and see absolutely no reason to use vista right now

most ppl use vista coz it loox good and has some fancy stuff which i think for OS is absolutely useless and pointless

my specs are

athlon dual core 6000+
geforce 8800 gts grahics card
2 gig ram

at the moment xp does everything for me anyways but just wondered what people thought of vista
and if theres any benefits for moving to vista.

your rig is more than capable

apart from dx10 and loox probably none

btw sp1 is out but u might have problems with activation of pirated version of vista

k thanks mortibus think ill wait a while before i try it
i was a bit weary of the drm thing thats incorporated into vista
look http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2007/02/drm_in_windows_1.html
but i think u can take it out or disable the drm thing.
