It's the second time I try Whiskey and it failed again.

At the first time a few months ago, I tried a cheap one - Johny Walker Red Label - Sucked.
I promised myself to never drink whiskey again.
But then I started hearing people say that "you need to get used to whiskey, and then it's really good and other bla bla bla". So today I tried J&B (I think), and it SUCKED too.
Tried to drink it in every way possible. Cold, warm, in small 'chunks', big chunks, and it sucked.
I don't have any problems drinking Vodka, Tequila or Araq (Dunno how they say it in English), but I just can't drink Whiskey.

How can people drink that shit?

irish whiskey rocks my socks off.
doesn't taste as smoky as scottish whiskey but the good ones are freaking expensive.
my uncle had a bottle of 16 year old jameson IIRC, tasted awesome that stuff.
hmm. (note to self: get yourself a good whiskey collection asap)

my personal favourite mixing whiskey (with coke). top drop. Jamesons is gorgeous.

also as Waldo says, Johnny Walker Black Label is fucking tasty (my personal favourite in a whiskey mac (whiskey mac is 1 shot of whiskey and 1 shot ginger wine, ginger wine is sweet and takes some of the bitterness away, its also quite a good way of getting used to whiskey), coz its not too expensive but still nice).

then for a proper drop its gotta be mccallans, talisker or highland park. all three have very distinct flavours

bells and grants tho waldo? they're like fucking paint stripper :/

Quote:
Bourbon is an American form of whiskey named for Bourbon County, Kentucky.

Legislation now stipulates that Bourbon must meet these requirements:

# Bourbon must be made in the United States.
# Bourbon must be made of a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn[1]
# Bourbon must be distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof.
# Bourbon must be 100% natural (nothing other than water added to the mixture)
# Bourbon must be aged in new, American, charred oak barrels.[1]
# Bourbon which meets the above requirements and has been aged for a minimum of two years, may be called Straight Bourbon[2].
# Bourbon aged fewer than four years must be labeled with the duration of its aging.

actually there are a ton of American micro-breweries that make quite tasty beer .. it's just the big names (bud/coors etc.) have like a 90% share of the market so that is what is associated with american piss water beer Smile

this is one of many, good luck finding it overseas though Wink

if I say "smoky" does that mean anything? basically it has a lot of flavour that isn't very smooth tasting. Jameson's key asset is that it is very smooth, especially refrigerated (I usually keep my bottle in the freezer). it's almost a little sweet tasting as well ...

I just want to know one thing. Unlike Vodka and Tequila, whiskey is a drink that you're taking your time with. So if you're going to drink it for a long time it should be enjoyable. So my basic question - Is there any whiskey who's fun to drink? Is there any whiskey tasty? If yes, then which. Because sometimes I want to drink long drinks, but I only got to pick from Beer. So now I want to add whiskey to the list for the sake of variation but so far I didn't find anyone good enough (they were all awful).

Btw: B&J and Johny Walker Red Label are considered Bourbon?

Yeah I did. Just so I'll understand -J&B and Johny Walker are considered Bourbon?
Because now I know (Thanks to you) that Jameson isn't bourbon, so I want to know if it really is different.

Oh and one more thing. Just say yes or no - Is it tasty?

Edit: Now wtf is scotch? lol, I'm an alcohol noob. I only know a bit about vodka, beer, and that's it Razz
