He's not out of their reach, they just don't know he lives there. They probably just roam the streets at night and with a totally silent city you could hear them from humping or whatever from half a mile away.

Yep, that's what Neville says to the girl. The Night Crawlers (or whatever they are called) don't know where he lives so he wanted her to look out where she's drivin and lose the tail.

Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

Well, the creatures are stronger because Spoiler: | they have a much faster heart rate, higher blood pressure, a higher body temperature and faster metabolism. This gives them quite an advantage, but doesn't make them invincible or anything.
The downside of this would obviously be that they are much more likely to die of heart attacks, and have a shortened lifespan. |
But something different bothered me:
Spoiler: | About the trap that Neville was caught in. Did he place the trap himself, or did the monsters set it up?
He obviously was shocked to see the puppet standing there, so he didn't put it there himself. But he would know about his own traps, or not?
Was it the "chief" monster that made the trap? It could be that he watched Neville while he set up the first trap, and then did the same thing at night.
What do you think? |

Spoiler: | I think 'official' explanation was indeed that boss mutants placed that trap, because he wanted to capture Neville. I think it had something to do with fact that Neville caputred his mate. There is also very interesting that that puppet actually moves his head in that shot. |

Yeah that really explains how the alpha mutant knew that particular mannequin was significant to Neville. It's a bullshit plot contrivance don't even bother trying to rationalize it, the whole scenario was absurd.
A better explanation would be that Neville set the trap himself and disoriented by his developing psychosis forgot it was even there. That would explain him hallucinating that it turned it's head. Of course it doesn't explain why the alpha mutant would be waiting right there or why a mannequin was used as bait. I still prefer it to the other explanation though.
