Any added files that are ran with the game, they can ban you for any reason they want to, and you aint gonna do shit about it... and you know why ? cause you cant do shit about it.
Also when you activate the game once, it will search for OFFICIAL key, and ban all the gen keys.
Valve arent stupid, and Im sure they will prove it.

no offence i think that a group will make it work that u dont have to online verify. but the thing is how long will it take, will it be out early or out later. who knows its mother fucking hl2.

Valve owes a lot, actualy. The vouchers. Don't think that it wasnt 'included in the price' when we bought a 9800XT with the promise of having the game (over a year ago). I would say that with the money they made from ATI, invested, they made a lot of profit. And to me, that should be illegal. We all know what the game looked like a year ago.
Unless you mean that people should have *expected* to pay for something, but not get it. And don't say "well it will come out eventually", that's like saying that when you are borrowing money, you don't have to give it back (let's say you hold it for 80years). It's just plain dumb. Valve lied to everybody, and that's a known fact. Being a nerd or not has nothing to do with it. Some people just really dislike being lied to, no matter what. (And plus, if its only a game, why did they lie in the first place? It's only a game right?). That argument doesnt make any sense. |
That's complete bullshit. When you take out a loan there is a term and a schedule of repayments. When you buy a video card and get a voucher for the game you know it could be delayed and you know you will get the game when it's released.
Also, companies lie to you all the time. The only difference here is it's a market where information about the products is more freely available.
Another point is that I doubt the price of the graphics cards actually went up due to this offer. More likely ATI offset the price of the deal with the increase in sales it would bring. Whatever the case was, you're getting the game cheaper than you would have had you bought it normally. |
Meh, the price might not have gone up, but it did come with a voucher, in the box, and well all know that it wasn't free (usually, companies dont "give away" stuff). The price might have been the same, but the point is that I bought the card to have a card AND a voucher. So, the voucher was included in the price, because it came with the card. Had it not been for that, I would be holding an X800PE in my hands, not a 9800XT.
If you want to believe that VALVe doesnt owe anything to anyone, thats fine. But the fact is that they do. Why in the world would you release a card with a voucher for a game that's coming out AFTER the next gen of cards? Other than greed, I mean.
It's been over a year now, I call that a ripoff. Hell, the RIAA sues for a lot less than that, legally.

Games are delayed all the time, its widely understood that even a specific date from the publisher themselves is not gaurenteed. They should have taken charge quicker and declared it wasnt going to make september sooner, but they didnt, and thats the only thing you could hold against them.

Delay.. we're talking about 1/6 of the time it took to make the game. That's not some "random" delay that can "happen" and that you should "expect". They knew it wouldn't be ready in time.
80 years was an exageration, pushing it to the extreme. My point was that technically, you could borrow money and never give it back, if, of course, you're saying that it's "ok for VALVe" to do what they did because I should have been "expecting" delays of over a year, because hey, shit happens.

i pray to god everynight asking for HL2 to be un crackable just to piss off alll the idiots in this huge thread that have been constantly whining and saying they arent buying the game and how stupid valve are.
some of the people in this thread really sound like spoilt brats who are used to geting there own way everyday of there life who dont apreciate anything at all.

I think most people, even the ones that appear to be whining, have intentions of purchasing the game anyway. Alot already have, or have vouchers. I havent really seen people say they weren't going to buy it (even if they hate Valve). I think most the discussion about the crackability (is that a word?) has to do with the scene in general. If Valve makes a way that is not crackable, what would that do to the scene as a whole if everyone follows suit? If companies start being like microsoft and requiring connections to be able to play games, what kind of information are they pulling from you in the process? Of course in any thread in any forums there are always idots who go against the grain just to get reactions from people too. BTW, Im not trying to flame your post snop, just some observations.

sorry let me rephrase that to "all the people who have made idiotic posts in this thread"
valve spent 40million+ to develope a game and people are saying they suck for trying to protect there investment by doing a wierd kind of copy protection.
which is stupid if it was your money on the line you would probably use starforce3 or something it makes sense to try your best to stop piracy on your product.
people are picking any little fault about the game they can and making out likes its a big issue which is also a little silly.
comparing the game to doom 3 like some people have tried is like comparing chalk and cheese they are both very different styles of FPS.
if the game does really suck and i dont get the impression it does from all the reviews although some magazines have gave stupid scores to not so great games in the past, i will be one of the first people you see complaining on this forum but there is a difference i have bought the game on steam and have every right to most people here have no intentions of buying it
worst of all some people are acting like Valve owes them the game and should give it out with every bucket of kentucky fried chicken you buy or something
