With seven million copies sold since its November launch, Call of Duty 4 is the best-selling game of 2007.
2007 was a bumper year for video games. Halo 3 broke all records for entertainment by earning over $170 in its first 24 hours. But even Halo couldn’t touch Call of Duty 4. Released in November, it sold a staggering seven million copies before the year’s end to become the best-selling game of 2007, the BBC reports.
Published by Activision, it’s already win Best Action Game at E3 and two awards from Spike TV, telling the story of allied Special Forces in the Middle East and Russia.
"We're very excited about this achievement especially given so many competitive titles this year," said Activision’s Will Kassoy.
The game has even passed Halo 3 as the most popular game on Xbox Live, according to Microsoft.

That number is completely made up an inaccurate..
They completely ignore those mini games and flash games but include Xbox arcade games etc. It also didn't include steam games I see... I bought more games via steam last year than I did anything else.
I also pirated more games for an Xbox than I did PC.

The best selling PC game released in 2007 was Crisis with approximately 1 million copies sold so far, Halo 3 has sold over 8 million. That says it all right there, especially considering Halo is Xbox exclusive.
Wanna know why you pirated more games on the 360 then the PC? Because there were more games worth playing on the 360. |
TBC was better selling in 2007 than Crysis.. so that right there is enough to knock your point off its feet Also, I only pirated 4 games for the PC all year and I pirated a bunch of 360 games and destroyed the disk. There are literally ZERO games for the Xbox 360 worth playing vs a PC counterpart unless its a sports game.
I loved NHL08 for the 360, but I HATED everything else
And I got my COD4 through steam as well

Do you think any less people would have bought TBC if it was more expensive?
It also has a constant income yearly vastly superior than the income to Halo3. Lets take a year subscription to wow and couple it with the cost of TBC.. and I'm LOLing at consoles, even with the gold package...
WoW is the biggest money maker in games worldwide atm, hands down. Too bad its such a shite game now Though, Halo 3 sucked balls.

Loved it without vehicles. Adding vehicles could easily destroy the tight action feeling it got.
Maybe the could have added a special separate mod with vehicles, but then it wouldn't be COD4.
COD4 is more of a tight urban combat game, and less like a big battlefield combats, therefore vehicles don't really fit inside these narrow urban streets.

This is bad news.... Its no wonder why almost every PC game is dumbed down and is really a port of a console version.... This of course isn't because of piracy but because the average console gamer doesn't give as much demand on quality and complexity of a game.
Infact console gaming is 100% based on not being complex.

Completely disagree. I downloaded the game and even though the single-player experience was short, it was the most cinematic one ever. I'll never forget it for the story and how it is played in the game.

I liked the game at first but moved back to TF 2 after a few weeks. I'm not the casual gamer so I may differ in to what I look for from a game i.e. an hour or two of fun.
Btw, I bought it from steam.

Quote: | A new Call of Duty game is set to release during Activision's fiscal '09 year, which runs from April '08 through to March 2009.
The publisher only referred briefly to what's next from the FPS series in a financial conference call yesterday, but did add that the new game will release on PC, Xbox 360, PS3, DS, PS2 and Wii.
Activision added that the recently confirmed download content for CoD 4 will be out in Q1 of its fiscal '09 year - April to June.
