so to get this straight .... some people using the RLD cracked version having problems with saving due to some missed calls in the crack, others say that using the mini image from GCW solve the save issue.

so if i have the RLD version and install it and use the mini image from GCW the save issue will be solved ?
CAN anyone confirm or clarify these things?

Tages utilizes various calls to the program which might alter certain functions if tampered with during for example debugging or attempting to alter the protection or protected files.

In this case the player will be unable to save the game after the first map has been completed but there might be other issues as well.

Usage of the mini-image should solve the problem though you might need the later versions of Daemon Tools Pro to successfully emulate the disc.

Quests can be done in different manners, depending what kind of outfit you wear and how good is your diplomacy..later on you can join different factions I think.

Hey, this doesn't sound bad at all. It obviously depends on how the whole thing is implemented, and I'm not expecting the next Fallout, but at least it seems the game is not as shitty as some people are claiming.

Anyone can tell exactly how the different approach/disguise/persuasion/factions features are implemented?

Sometimes you find equipment with a letter in it's icon, examining the item shows a description which tells what group is associated with it, wearing enough equipment belonging to the same group will turn you into a "member" of that group.
(Generally it's shoes, pants, shirts and a helmet, armor and cloak seems optional but are also available.)

Early on the player will get a set of low level thief clothes that when worn disguises him as a thief which makes it possible to talk to the various bandits in the level and complete some of those missions in a not-so-violent way compared to wearing your uniform and cutting them down.

Ofcourse there's also normal items that doesn't disguise the player.
(Various clothes and armors, think I had about five or six different shirts when I arrived on the second map.)

I think the medicine skill increases the healing rate.
(Red and blue skill points, as usual awarded during a level up though there's not that many skills from what I can see.)

Training the primary weapon skills also unlocks special moves done by right clicking on a opponent, quite powerful from what I saw. (Hitting multiple opponents, extra damage and so on.)

Disguises are implemented in a good way, you can't change between different disguises if NPC's are in the vicinity and getting a full set can be tricky plus there's different properties and items for each set. (A barbarian fur shirt and a dark gray coat are both used by thieves but the coat is a bit better albeit requires a higher level to use.)

It actually reminds me a bit about the Spellforce games though so far I haven't found any RTS elements. (There's also some scifi elements based on the loading screen and various screenshots on the Ag.ru website.)

Using RLD "crack" saving is one problem, another one - it is impossible to complete prime objective in second map. Yes, using RLD version's install without applying "crack" and using mini image problems are solved. Tested and working.

can any one answer me my question?

does the game starts right away after pressing new game or there are some sort of introduction video before they plunge u into the game play? ( talking to the man that gives u training and tells u to go pick a sword or something like that, any introduction video before that? )

i ask this coz i fear the bad crack maybe triggered a call in the tags/solidshield protection that bypasses the intro video as it did with the save issue ( preventing u from saving is due to bad crack that didnt address that call , and that why RLD released a crack fix )
... (as u all know that this kind of protection can prevent certain function or features if it detects u r using a copy and not the original)

As I see it,the games story revolves around the fact that the character has no idea what is going on. Only later in the game he realizes, but as I said before, the games story is a bit on the boring side...at first anyway.

I don't think it feels unfinished, but the translation could have used more work.

The game was made for russian market and it's based off a UBER popular book. So everyone knows what's the story about. Otherwised they'd have to make a 15-min intro scene retelling the book and that would cost them another month or two.

What is this game about?!
Arkanar is a feudal kingdom beset by violence and savageries. In order to influence the course of events, Terrans send spies to Arkanar and you are one of them.

You play the role of a professional spy. You have to master both the secrets of diplomacy and a number of combat techniques. By applying your training, and the technology and inventions supplied by your backers, you will have more power than the whole Arkanar population combined. Yes, you are practically a god in this world.
But is it really so easy to be a god?

Storyline
Earth and Arkanar are two planets that once appeared as very similar. Indeed, for centuries their people shared a mutual history and friendship.

Although after a terrible war between the two planets, the two societies completely split apart and lived secluded from one another. While planet Earth followed the path of modernity , the society of Arkanar strangely stagnated

On one hand, due to mysterious reasons and omnipresent violence, the Arkanar kingdom barely evolved, remaining a medieval society.

On the other hand, the Earth Empire considerable evolved mastering incredible technologies. Intrigued by the stagnation of their former patriots, the Earth Empire decides to send a special secret agent.

This hero is secretly sent to Arkanar in order to investigate on the reasons why evolution on the two planets diverged. In order to achieve his mission, our hero will have to restrain the use of his modern equipment. Indeed, an excessive exposure would draw too much attention, and who knows what could happen if people started thinking that he's a god?

Features
A medieval universe and non-linear scenario based on the science-fiction novel, Hard to be a God, published in 1964, by the Soviet writersArcady and Boris Strugatsky.

A role playing game clerverly combining, adventure, espionage and science fiction.

A real living world thats to an advanced NPC system.

Encounters of great depth: the attitude toward the hero changes considering the clothes he is wearing and his appearence, opening up a wider range of dialogues and leading to different possible results.

A climatic change system featuring day/night alternation.

More than 200 types of weapons and 200 types of armours. Access to futuristic technology replaces the magic system you know from other RPG's.

Journey throughout the Empire on horse back and fight.

If you've already decided the game is not worth your time I suggest you give it a second chance, it's not as bad as I had originally thought from first impressions, though it is a russian made game and it doesn't do much to hide that fact, for good and bad.

I tried to set the resolution manually in the HardToBeGod.ini, but cant seem to get it to change it.

Anyone who could give me some pointers as to how and which resolutions that would work? I am currently sitting on a 1650*1080 screen, and was hoping this game would be able to run in something like that (or maybe windowed mode?).

I had to switch to windowed mode for custom resolutions to work as it seems the game can't do resolutions above 1280x1024 otherwise. (1600x1200 might also work.)

Maybe you should change it at \Hard to be a God\Profiles\XXX\local.ini rather than in HardToBeGod.ini. Because the settings in local.ini will cover those in HardToBeGod.ini.

Why do i have to get off my horse to talk to people , can't he talk to people while on the horse?

The frame rates are kinda dire for a game like this , at times 30fps or so the witcher ran far better for me than this...

Why can't i double click an item for it to be moved over to inventory why do i have to drag and drop?

Oh and i got stuck on a plank of wood and unable to move off it..
