There is nothing wrong with gta san!!. If you are having problems with it, its because......
The game is huge and pushes the ps2 to work hard to read from the disc. If you are using some type of swap method to boot it,and your ps2 is in perfect working condition then the game you use first to swap for gta is either too small or the way the the files on the original game/demo are made are not comatible with gta.
Your ps2 is a bit fooked. If the laser in your ps2 is either dirty, weak or not set up correctly it may be reacting too slow to the speed of the game. So say as you are driving to a part of the game the laser hasnt read all the info in time for you getting there, this will cause missing scenery etc.
Just cleaning your lens is not the answer to properly tuning the ps2 there are other things to do to set it up right, you may also make the thing worse by bending the copper wires that hold the lens straight so beware.

If you want the game to work spot on...Get a nice modchip and put it in a good console (v5 upward) or buy a new laser for your beloved old one. Stick the game on good media (ritek etc, check for ink runs also..god this is dull)
I also think that burning speed will make very little difference if any.
And then sit back and enjoy this class game properly without bitching Smile

cleaning the lens works wonders ..if u have a ps2 over a year old there aint no way that lens isn't going to covered in dust .. i ressurected ps2's by giving the lens a wipe with a very slightly damp cloth gently and then drying ,again gently... its amazing how much better they are afterwards (from not playing backups at all to coping with san andreas with ease) ..only fine tune the laser as your last resort

Oh dont get me wrong cleaning your lens is an excellent way of getting your ps2 back to working condition. Its just not the only way to do it, for the people that are trying this and still having problems they may need to do other things to the ps2 to get it working 100%. Also for the novice who may read a post saying "clean you lens etc", they are likely to make the situation worse by bending the wires. Just beware of how fragile the components are in a ps2.
Hope they sort things hardware wise with the new ps2two..though its probably going to be smart looking piece of garbage like the ps2 is.

Can anyone help me? Confused
When I try to burn with Nero (at x2, x4, +R,-R) I am getting a cyclic redundancy check read error.
I have checked the rars with 2 sfv checker programs but they seem to be fine. I've also tried rebuilding the rar but same outcome.
Please help if you can.
Thanks.

Hdd loader is what you use if you got a harddrive connected to your ps2.
For this to work you need a chip that can handle it, a broadband adapter and ofcourse a harddrive. If you dont got these hdd loader wont work.

I thought hdd loader was the only prog out there which allows the PS2 to play copied games/isos without actually needing to implent any modchip at all, only by using a hd and the network adapter.
