Crashes randomly though and it looks a bit dated despite using UE3.
(Seems a bit short as well and ending video looks quite bad.)

Well what do you know, it's because It's not using Doom3 engine, apparently...

Heh, no I don't have anything against Unreal Engine 3.0 - it is a good engine as been demonstrated in for example titles like Mass Effect and Bioshock (And ofcoruse by Epic themselves in UT3 and GoW.) but I would say that developing for it requires talent, especially when porting the code between the PS3, X360 and PC platforms.
(I never played Roboform but for the other titles I would say that Vegas, Airborne and Stranglehold did OK, Blacksite and Frontlines ended up very buggy for various reasons and Hour of Victory together with this Fall of Liberty seems like quick ports with only minimal changes for the PC version. - Probably missed a few titles as well as it's a popular engine)

EDIT: Seems I remember some of the older titles incorrectly though aside from how large certain titles were like Stranglehold, Blacksite and now Frontlines they ran quite well from what I remember albeit some of the more direct ports could have had a few more options and settings to adjust aside from just resolution.
(Albeit performance wise I haven't had many problems with UE3.)

EDIT: Conflict: Denied Ops also used UE3 didn't it?
(The gun and hand models were pretty horrible for some reason.)

Vegas was graphically a disaster and poorly optimized. The same for Stranglehold.

I think it needs a game developed specifically for the pc and dx10 to realize it's full potential, so far it isn't that impressive I can't believe that some of the games look like they come from ps2 surely the new consoles can take a little more 'abuse'. Can't wait to see ubisoft's endwar on it Laughing ubisoft and unreal3 on the pc, should be buggy as a bug riding a buggy.

Technically the most impressive thus far is cryengine2 I hope someone buys it off and makes at least a couple of games around it.

Elveon is not dead, just having problems. Hope all goes well, because it looks very interesting, and the fighting system looks very good.

Shouldn't that always be true? I never liked tools that make everything ready for you, they are never as good as making something great by yourself. So yeah, when developing for the UE3, it really shows when you're not that talented, or if your just a lazy ass.

And for the record, even Roboblitz looks better than Doom 3! Razz

Well yeah but I meant it more like the developers focusing mainly on one version (Usually the X360 from what I've read.) and then porting the code over to the PS3 and PC formats with only minor adjustments which is what leads to various issues such as lowered performance due to the differences between these platforms.

Ofcourse there are exceptions to this and it's not really anything new as porting games between various platforms has been done since the early 70's.
(Albeit the hardware has changed a bit since then.)

Anyway with a few patches this title might become a bit better. Smile
(Albeit it's a rather average shooter but the setting is quite interesting.)

You really are stupid sometimes, doom3 came out in 2004 not 2006 and the engine was revolutionary for that time, without Carmack and his work on doom and quake there wouldn't be a unreal 1,2,3 engines.

Sure there are problems, but at least the game still looks good (like in the case of RSV). That is, if the original version looked good. TP:FoV looks like shit on 360 as well, so don't hold your breath.

Damn this game was a piece of crap. Graphically it looks like someone added shaders to a 1998 game, the controls suck horribly (not to mention that you get a damn 360-gamepad when you enter the "controls"-menu), and the sound of the weapons, what the heck, we're all using pea-guns, and it just looks awful. Awful game. Be gone!

Actually you can change the controls, they added a 'bind keys' option but left the original X360 gamepad configuration in Very Happy

This game gets my vote for worst use of the Unreal 3 engine.

Not bad port, well maybe that too. However, if they would have made an exact replica of the xbox version it still would have sucked and looked like a ps2 game. I think this may be the ugliest xbox game I've seen.

Finally I got Anti-Aliasing. The good old rename-to-Bioshock.exe-and-then-force-AA-in-control-panel trick is still working.
The game looks so much better now...

So i have problem with resolution too... I changed TPEngine.ini file, set resoulution to 1280x1024, but when i enter the game it changes back to 1024x768. I tried making TPEngine.ini file read-only, and that didn't help too. Any other suggestion?

PS. Consider me crazy but I have need to play this game... I have to write a review about it, for my local newspaper Smile And I simply cannot play it in 1024 resolution

The game is dated for sure. I've had no crashes and it's kinda fun still. But the most amazing coincidence is, that this building is a real building, 20 Exchange Place. It's has been gutted and I've been renovating it for the past year. You can imagine how amazed I was when I had to turn and start running toward it and then fight my way down to the lobby which had the exact same elevator art. I brought some screens to work with me this morning the guys were laughing their asses off, said I should get paid for coming in saturday and killing Germans... Laughing
