Yeah you can thank the Weinstein's for fucking up everything they ever do and not joining the HD bandwagon. Their last HD releases were Harsh Times and Black Christmas on HD-DVD back in June. I really don't know why some people like them. I hate them. Their company sucks and can't release/advertise movies for crap. They'll either have a lot of advertising and release the movie in like 10-50 theaters or have no advertising but release it in over 1,000 theaters but the movie bombs. Also they're infamous for pushing back release dates. My friend just reminded me of this Mickey Rourke movie called Killshot that was suppose to be released a long time ago. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443559/ Where did it go?
I know The Mist was MGM/Dimension not The Weinstein Company but they were executive producers so they own it. See Grindhouse and Halloween. They're both not on HD.

bad acting? hell nothing beats new russian movies, acting was decent in this film and TJ did pretty good job
i'd say this movie deserves oscar then again oscar means shit this days
however i'm not sure about the ending
Spoiler: | he could've killed everyone after they had monsters attacking their vehicle and there would be obvious outcome waiting for them, instead he rushed and killed them pretty fast |

Here I agree with you, just minor correction. Not all new russian movies are bad, mainly hollywood-alike ones.

IMHO I doubt there is some hidden meaning. Indeed he could, but in that case the ending wouldn't be so dramatic

Spoiler: | Kinda hard to switch vehicles when you can't see 2 ft in front of you in the fog and the monsters could come out and kill you at any second. |

Great story for a PC Game but!. Sort a run of the mill S.King story. The movie adaptation is ok I guess, but no way near all the 9ers ppl have been giving it. In my book a weak 7/10 I would say. If it was a Game i probably give it a higher score

I haven't seen such bad acting (from Jane only, the others were good) since the time we shot some vampire movie parody last year with my N93. By the end it gets ok, but in the beginning it's just in your face. The guy almost laughs.

Just watched this movie and really liked it.
Can somebody tell me what the original ending from the book is?

Spoiler: | Sometime during these attacks, David begins to theorize that the creatures can only hunt by smell, and decides to try to make an escape to a car with a few other survivors. This comes at the moment when Ms. Carmody’s group decides to come for David’s son and Amanda. The tensions climax when the store owner, Ollie Weeks, shoots and mortally wounds Carmody.
David and company run out into the Mist where they finally get their first glimpse at some of the creatures, like a giant spider that shoots acidic webbing, giant squid, and giant lobster-like creatures. Although about half the group falls prey to the creatures, once David and the rest get into the car and shut the door, his theory is proved correct, as the creatures retreat. David attempts to go back to find his wife, but as he begins to approach his street, he can hear several creatures in the woods, and knows that his wife did not make it. Instead, he turns around and makes a break for another state, hoping the Mist has not spread everywhere. On their way out of Maine, they drive under a creature much larger than any of the ones seen outside the store, this one being the size of a building and having several of the mosquito like bugs clinging to its underbelly. The story ends with David and his son continuing to drive, hoping that they will find a place where the Mist has not reached, but uncertain of what will happen when the car runs out of gas.

Spoiler: | The other ending is him having only one bullet left in the gun, and using it on himself leaving his kid alone. |
