we all known that watching movies in HD is a visual feast, but there are movies that stand very well above the others, just watched Transformers in HD and I must say it was a totally different experience.

any suggestions?

I'm not really a hardcore video nerd like you get on sites that do side by side freaking screenshot comparisons with the DVD version, but my rule is any movie that I can watch more than once, whether they have been rendered in HD well I wouldn't know tbh......

Shining looks amazing, Apocalypse Now, Predator, Blade Runner, LOTR Trilogy....

LOTR has not yet seen a proper HD rendition, so wtf?

Planet Earth (not a movie, but the motherload of HD)
Batman Begins
Man on Fire
Deja Vu
I am Legend
Kingdom of Heaven
Bourne trilogy
Into the Blue (Guess why... Laughing)
No Country for Old Men
Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy
Equilibrium
Hot Fuzz
Casino Royale
Serenity
Contact
300
The Fifth Element (the remastered edition)
Children of Men

I think all those are a treat to watch in HD.

i think visual effects movies and cgi films benefit the most from cgi, so stuff like starship troopers, final fantasy, the pirates films etc..

and lance, thats hdtv, not from a disc... some people think hdtv releases are perfectly fine, but i dont touch em, i prefer to wait for a proper release to be ripped.

Exactly, it's pos. It has so much macroblocking, not to speak about it being the crappy theatrical cut.

LOTR will eventually come to HD properly. Until then, <3 my 12 DVD collection.

Your opinion. The movie wasn't perfect, but far from sucking. Adding HD visuals makes it even better.

Just because you say something sucks does not make it fact. You're also in the minority since it has gotten generally favourable reviews ... 75% @ RottenTomatoes, 64% @ MetaCritic, 7.3@ IMDb ...

the hulk looks awesome in HD, and the first HD version of the 5th Element was a mess, Sony even replaced it for free when they brought out an upgraded version...

Quote:
Easily the most reviled next-gen release ever, Sony was greeted with a chorus of very loud boos for its Blu-ray launch title 'The Fifth Element.' Lack of features aside, the real killer was a poor print laced with dirt and other artifacts you wouldn't even expect to see on a VHS tape. Rumor has it Sony will be remastering and reissuing this one soon. Wise move.

Editor's Note: (July 17, 2007) This original Blu-ray edition of 'The Fifth Element' has been discontinued, and replaced with a new remastered version. If you own this original version, Sony has announced a a free disc exchange program.

Sony is definitely to be commended -- not only for returning to the scene of their past crimes and righting old wrongs, but also for providing this remaster absolutely free to those who purchased the old version.

while we're at it, Hulk is rated 'Gold' (4.4/5) @ AVSforum while 5th Element is rated 'Coal' (worst rating)...

You do see the word remastered beside that and realize we are talking about the original release making it to a 'worst of' list, right? Wink

There are two versions of BE, the HDDVD and the Bluray versions. Make sure to get the HDDVD rip, because it's the BBC version and not the dumbed for US version shown by Discovery (in which 1 hr was cut)!
