I will go for the premium version. Why if you would ask :
Hard drive = You need it for game content like maps and other bonus stuff. Or if you would like to try out a demo
Hdmi = If you have a flat screen then xbox with out hdmi is a big loss.
Remote controller = gives you the freedom to move around.
The core is fine if you like those small arcade games in my opinion.

Personally I never used that HD for anything else then for saved games. But if you can, get one that is soft modded already. That's at least what I bought, just makes things easier. Here in Germany its pretty easy as there are a coupple of shops that sell them modded already. Then you will need good burner...like a Pioneer 212, that's at least what always worked for me. I just got the basic version and it does what its supposed to. I stream films and play all the games that I DL no prob. LINK TO GERMAN SHOP Just in case...

go for the premium. its cheaper than buying the arcade and than later getting a extra hdd for it.
live without hdd is pretty sucky -> as said by bogo24dk you need it for all demos/arcade games + for example for some games (eg. burnout paradiese online mode).

Wooow 299€ for new premium version in Germany...but price for Premium version in EU just went down to 270€. Here in Slovenia, the cheaper Premium(not new) is 299€, new is about 350€. Ok, I will think about Premium then, if i can get it cheaper than 290€.

But you have to remember that those prices I linked are "modded" 360s, so they are a tad more expensive then the standard unmodded ones.

It isn't hard to mod the xbox. The only thing you have to do is open the case connect the drive to your computer with sata cable and upload the firmware. There a lot of guides out there which will show you how. If you have the patience you can do it. Don't need to pay a extra dime for it. Remember go for the Ixtreme firmware.

not everyone can maintane sticker intact while opening
no sticker no guarantee, that is if it's new and unopened
it's safer to pay xtra 30e and have sticker intact

Maybe some day i will drive in Austria which is 20km north of me, and buy it there for 270€. Is modding really so easy as some people talk? And...you MUST open XBOX or no? Sorry for my English. |
Well the hardest part is opening the xbox without a scratch. It can be done if you have patience and a hour to spare. then you have to put a sata cable from your computer over to the xbox drive and run some application. Don't take my word for it. Search for it yourself. It's easy to find the guides. And then you can make up your mind.

You don't need a HDD for demos! You can download almost every interesting demo with your PC, burn it to a RW DVD5 and play.

go for arcade + broken 360 HDD from ebay + 120GB 2.5" SataHDD = elite for cheap.
(you can use HDD hack tool from the specialist to change the sata hdd firmware so it works on the 360.)

Yes, but you can only put movies and music on it. It cannot be used for savegames or demos you download.
