So I am gearing up for my new build for the weekend. Asus Rampage Formula X48, E8500 and 2 GB OCZ Flex XCL (Water cooled).
Anyho...on Tuesday my PC (current build) just switched off, not reboot but OFF!. I though WTF!...and turned it back on and saw that the temps where WAY off the scale. Quickly turned it off and started to panic...
I looked behind the case and saw a puddle of liquid under the Res on the carpet (the Res is mounted on the back of the case, plexi container with coolant)..NOWAY!.
After checking all the connections etc I found a crack in the plexi...small but still a crack. So coolant have been slowly sipping out until it went bellow the pipe (inside the tube is a pipe "climb-stencil" (at intake), to prevent the build up of air bubbles).
So I directly ordered a new one from Innovatek (famous German WC brand) and I took one that is almost double the size of my old one. Just installed it (still my old rig) but the TEMPS are like 7-10C lower then before so all in all WIN!!!! E6600@3.5@30C.
I will start the build with the new stuff 1st thing in the morn and I am sure I will press that E8500 to well over 4Ghz.
Well you still have them with water...got a total of 5 fans in my case (3 at the Rad "top of case" and 2 in the case"front and rear") Took away the side fan as I really did not see the point (mounted over the CPU) You still need some case cooling for HD's etc...unless you go water full out that is. So yea, I chase those dust bunny's as well
