If i understand correctly it's down to how dominant either side of your brain is. If you dont have a very dominant side you will probably see both rotations either by "tricking" your brain or just by pure chance.
If one side is very dominant however it will be very hard to see it any other way than the dominant side.
Oh and your IQ has nothing to do with which side is dominant.

Looking at the list of left and right brain functions it would seem that left-siders would have a massive advantage in IQ tests. Not saying it's true, just a theory.

Actually, im well aware of the IQ thing being a joke (i even wrote so in the first post) but i was in a hurry when i posted this so i didn't have the time to edit this part out of the original quote.
By the way, im begining to think that the balerina's direction is not affect by your brain part dominancy but rather by the state the image is in when you first lay your eyes on it.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge" it is silly to say that one side of the brain is smarter than the other but I would defiantly go with the right 'creative' side, it is much harder to invent new stuff the left side could all be just geeks that learn what the teachers tell them to learn, think Leonardo Da Vinci, artist/scientist/inventor and a dozen other occupations, that was 300 years ahead of his time clearly a very, very, very creative guy probably used his right side a lot more.

Oh noez! I can only see it clockwise, which means the right part of my brains is dominant! I am so disgusted with myself! My brain has betrayed my socialist ideals! Come to think of it, so has my left hand. It has bowed down in submission, allowing my right hand to become dominant! Damn my body!
