I then went around handing millions of dollars to newbies while they watched and could do nothing because I still had my no PVP chip in.

The clan started getting owned and couldn't rebuy equipment that they lost when killed so the members by floods dropped out of the clan until it was pathetic in size While I was called Robin Hood by many players. I was the richest single player in the whole beta and most clans didn't even come close to my wealth.... Good times.

I think I may actually hold the world record of a numerical amount of money stolen ever. Sadly this event isn't recorded and since it was fake money I doubt I would get into any record breaking recordings.

Command & Conquer - sure dune 2 was awesome, but c&c took it to a whole new level, the FMV movies, the music, The creepy menu with the napalm explosions, the whole mood was just much darker then any of it's sequels.

Thats funny as hell Laughing

I remember going around on runescape owning idiots with the old Alt-f4 trick.

Those of you who played the game will know it started out simple scams, which went by unreported until they implimented a report button into the game.

How it worked was simple, see a guy walking around with adamite on who isnt too high a level.. Some of them would fall for it. Youd say something like *I found a new cheat* or *I found a bug in the game code* or something on those lines (bare in mind most players where like 14-17 year olds without a clue) and explain that if they dropped all of their currently held items on the ground and press Alt-F4 the items would be doubled when they picked them up.

This led to some idiots dropping there full adamite armour and strength potions, even diamonds and other rare items on the ground, then hitting F4 and logging off instantly, leaving you to pick up free stuff Laughing

Ultima Online. A guy was showing off this awesome sword. So I checked UO Auctions and it's worth about £50. I thought I'm having that with my thief. So it was a hard place to steal it. Right at the bank in the main city. So I whipped it out of his backpack and was instantly flagged and had about 15 people with the single aim to lob my head off. So I take to my heals and I'm being chased for about 20 mins before I can hide. So I'm hidden now and they get a tracker. He finds me and I'm off again. Hides again and this time he doesn't find me. I puts the disguise kit on and puts the sword safely in my bank. Then went back to wind up the guy that I stole the sword from. Such fun.

Another time was when the square outside the bank was packed, about 50 people in there. This Italian comes past with a horse called Englishmans sux. I said "Nice name that for a horse". "is it true what Italian men do to make themselves look more like their mothers?". He replied "whats that then?" I said "grow beards". The square was in uproar with LOL's and Roflmao's.

the game got too big ya know?

I wouldnt mind finding another mmorpg to play, but im not into wow and i didnt the like the matrix that much.

Plus, I dont like having to buy a game then continue to pay out cash to play it you know? I think its unfair and exploitation

you know what im saying tho bro. its one thing to play a single player game from the beginning, but its a whole next thing to play a mmorpg from the beginning. Acquire resources, items, learning about special places etc it takes months of work to do if you play it religiously.
Im just not into that anymore, well, i am kinda, but not when i have pay for it you know?

If i have pay to play a game online, i should start with a character who can atleast accomplish something from the get go. Not just be a target for gankers....

I know what your saying.. but..

I started playing counter strike 2 or so years after it came out and ended up in one of the top clans in the world within only a year or so of playing. It all depends on how much you play Wink

With WoW, he who has no life, has high level Wink Laughing

Morrowind.

I already had it over a year or so. Played it 4 or 5 times for like 5 min. Wondering what kinda game it was and bullshitting around.

Until i had vacation, when i decided to really play it.
Man, this game was freaking awesome. Great story telling and gameplay.

Still play it today, because of the mods and the diversity of it Very Happy.

You can play on private servers(some of those are even better than the official ones IMO) and it would easily solve both of those problems. Very Happy

Those servers don't nearly have as much people on them as a official server though. I watched a friend play on one and he would hardly run into people. I doubt that one even has 1000 people online at the same time.

Anarchy is crap compared to the newer mmorpg's. Besides you still have to buy the expansion packs and if you do you have to pay a monthly fee anyways. I highly advise ever playing a mmorpg and ignoring the expansion packs as your basically force to buy it if you wish to continue competing with others.

It's hard to pick just one so I gotta categorize -

Multiplayer - EverQuest
March of '99
My friend told me about this new game he had heard about - a living, breathing online world. All in full 3D. Imagine that. Well, off to the store I went to grab me a Diamond Viper video card (don't recall the exact model or specs). From my first zone in, (Erudin) - I knew this game would revolutionize the industry. The rest is history.Never has a game come close, or will ever again come close, to the sheer awesomeness of EQ.
All MMO's today owe their roots to EQ (Ultima was before my time, but it was 2D right?). Friendships forged, 1 billion guards, nobles, and treants camped, and a whole hell of a lot of bitching for me to get off the fucking line (we had one phone line back then - ah dialup.)
In short, you shall all bow before that magnificent fucking game.

Single Player Adventure/Comedy -
Leisure Suit Larry 7 without a doubt. Raunchy comedy at its finest (I was 13 when I first played it, some of the jokes went over my head Smile ) I've talked to its creator (Al Lowe). Really cool guy who's gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to his career. He deserves better.

Single Player Action -
Deus Ex. Nothing more needs to be said here. Finest SP experience in history.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

EQ1 had many of its roots in UO. I've been playing mmorpg's since dialup and for the sheer complexity (but easy to understand when you get the hang of it) nothing comes close.
The rules were fantastic in it. Getting flagged as red when you murdered someone, then if you didn't quit the killing spree you were flagged red premanently. Which meant that you couldn't enter cities or villages with guards and anyone could attack you. Out of the city huge bands of murderers made groups together and unless you got on with them you had a tough time. Nothing comes close to Ultima Online for mmo's if you ask me. Such a shame it went down the pan.
