Lol, wtf do they care ? The PC release is too late to be directly comparable to the console version of the game. I mean, they have to compensate somehow !
And how can they say that "360 gamers got pwned once again" They were playing the game ages ago, while us PC gamers were drooling at the screenshots, reviews etc for all this time.
Console kiddies FTL !

They whine about us getting it free, then they pay to use their own connection to play MP on 360, when are they gonna realize that everything costs on 360.

Yeah but his argument is that $15 more is nothing compared to $400-$1600 more for the PC itself, and i agree with this... |
Not if you count the HDTV necessary to go with the game console. Or are you going to argue that one is not necessary, and I'll counter that at $1500 PC is not necessary to technically play Mass Effect. It's the difference between being able to and being able to play it well. |
This Giolon seems to think, that we pc gamers don't need a screen... and thinks that a HDTV is more necessary to play than a good pc.

if a HDTV is necessary for a console then its def necessary for a pc since a pc can get better FPS and higher resolutions.. anyway back to playing vegas on my 15 inch black and white CRT |
Most people will buy a packaged PC deal, not separate components. Invariably a monitor of some sort is a part of the quoted price - it's rare you won't get one bundled if you're the average user (I'm not talking about the top-end here).
I think the point this Giolon is making is that you could get away with a less powerful PC and suffer the lower performance/details in the same way a console user can get away with standard definition on their existing TV as opposed to going out and buying a HD set.
...and it's true. Gaming PC's don't (necessarily) cost that much, it's a myth.*
*and lets not forget a PC does more than just play games, naturally.
EDIT; it's sad reading that thread; console users lamenting Bioware abandoning console fans and favouring PC fans. Umm, if only they knew lol

...right; most people I'd think you'd agree?
But of course I can only speak for where I live, and I can imagine it's very different elsewhere as you say RainyDay. The truth is that they don't judge PC gaming by countries like Bulgaria or Brazil or wherever though - they only seem to care about North America for some reason (?)
Either way the point I was trying to make was that the idea a PC Gaming console costs so much is overblown and overstated without also taking into consideration it's a PC and does so much more (hence value for money is a more important consideration).

Bad news about the protection.
http://masseffect.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=628375&forum=125
"Mass Effect uses SecuROM and requires an online activation for the first time that you play it. Each copy of Mass Effect comes with a CD Key which is used for this activation and for registration here at the BioWare Community. Mass Effect does not require the DVD to be in the drive in order to play, it is only for installation.
After the first activation, SecuROM requires that it re-check with the server within ten days (in case the CD Key has become public/warez'd and gets banned). Just so that the 10 day thing doesn't become abrupt, SecuROM tries its first re-check with 5 days remaining in the 10 day window. If it can't contact the server before the 10 days are up, nothing bad happens and the game still runs. After 10 days a re-check is required before the game can run."

You would think after Bioshock and Half-Life2, people would get some hint about these online-activations and drop them. But noooo. They take it one step further in the wrong direction.
It will most probably only affect the paying costumers again, while pirates will play happily ever after with the activation-disabled releases.

from the same page:
"There are no external programs with SecuROM. It is completely contained in the wrap of the executable. There are no other programs or processes that run, other than was is with MassEffect.exe"
im guessing that should help to crack it easier/quicker. its the same thing as bioshock.. after that game i swore i would never buy a game again that needed activation like this.. so they wont be getting a penny off me.
oh and i really hope this is cracked before or on official release day so no one buys it.. bioshock took a while so this method worked for them as ppl didnt want to wait.
I THINK NO ONE SHOULD BUY THIS GAME.. lets help stop this OTT protection

here is more
Code: | For clarity, though, an internet connection is not required to install, just to activate the first time, and every 10 days after. You can be completely connectionless for 9 days and encounter no problems playing Mass Effect. And you don't need the disk in the drive to play. |
so every 10 days you will be asked to active this game again ... epic FAIL
