yeah, probably something you're supposed to pay close attention to and have a knowledge about "AgriBusiness" in the US.

I liked the idea about corporate lawyers finally growing a conscience Smile

Iron Man 9/10 just because it was that good. FYI at the end of the credits you get to see Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

michael clayton rox. 9/10

and corporate lawyers and conscience in 1 sentence?? thats a good one

Quote:

you should pay better attention. it is about a fictional version of Monsanto, the lawyer who realize they represent scumbags and has a mental breakdown, and the lawyer (MC) who is supposed to "fix" the situation.

maybe you don't understand because scumbags of the Monsanto magnitude don't exist in your country?

I did my internship in a subsidiary of BASF plant science that has a partnership with Monsanto... Believe me, even the cleaning lady that worked there was a scumbag Razz

Im studying biotech myself and believe me, i know all the crap. Pharma companies are cheating FDA applications. Biotech companies are unethical. But it is legal, so i dont give a fuck, make money be happy But sometimes you have to be careful about what you say and how you say it. Not where i did my internship... I had a good time Smile, but i dont think anyone will say anything on record about what was said inside...

You know they are developing GM rice varieties that only grow in salty, dry environments. And i was curious so i was surfing their intranet until i found a confidential file called "investors: strategic 5 year plan" Rolling Eyes Now comes the good part;)

Some you know there is global warming and you know some chinese/indians/other asians are irrigating shitloads to grow cotton. Rivers and small lakes are becoming smaller and smaller, and what will be left? A dry, salty place. Luckily, in 10 years Monsanto will have a transgenic crop for you that will grow on the banks of your disappeared lake.

Some people dislike Monsanto, i love them... Good stock btw, 100% return on 1 year.
Oh yeah, i dont have a conscience btw, im going to do something financial in a biotech company next year. Never trust lawyers and financers:p

to each his own. that's like investing in Halliburton, or even still HitlerCorp Wink

Since i am into the biotech/pharma sector, I have this discussions all the time with other people.

I am not personally attacking you, but just in general. Because i might drift away in my typing, so dont take it personally Wink

People are very hypocrite in this discussions. They all hate Monsanto+Friends, but they all want cheap food, cheap meat. They hate Pfizer+Friends, but when they are sick, they are screaming for medication. They all hate big (corrupt) capitalist companies like McD but they all go their to eat. They all hate Microsoft, but keep buying windows. They all feel sorry for poor African countries, but they keep using their minerals for hightech equipment. They all feel sorry for Oil war victims, but keep complaining about high fuel prices. They hate 'unethical investing' but keep complaining they want higher returns on their savings accounts.

If people keep complaining, but looking away from the problems and hoping someone else will magically change the world, who is to blame then.
And i know some people dislike me for what i say and being rude and having no conscience etc. But at least i thought about and decided to go with the flow now and then and going against the flow now and then where others are screaming no and just do yes all the time.

People find me unethical because i invested in wheat futures. So i make money with rising food prices, am i unethical? Maybe, but shitting on me making money isnt going to change anything. Im not the reason that the chinese keep making more kiddos and eating more meat and neading more food.

It is like you said. People are screaming 'dont invest in weapons/oil etc' but they invest in halliburton. They are against animal testing in pharma companies, but they are buying l'oreal shit all the time, i mean, whats the f*cking difference? you can benefit, so it is ok?

Anyway, back on topic, monsanto.
Well they did nothing more asshole-ish than Coca-Cola, Nokia, Procter & Gamble or Microsoft or even Apple. They all generate 'needs' that were not there before and try to maintain them in the market. Noone NEEDS 10 types of Fanta/Coke @ 'just' 0.50$/can, noone needs a new cellphone every 2 years, no one needs all the fancy P&G stuff like the Swiffer, noone needs an Ipod that costs 4x more than a regular mp3 player. But they keep selling... They are misleading you in advertisings, manipulating you in the store, tracking you in stores, manipulating your buying behaviour, playing with your mind, creating needs that were not there before. I mean, advertising is a 100billion/y industry...

Monsanto was there when farmers needed them. Ok you have to overpay for your seeds and blablabla, but there were no real alternatives. And admit it, Monsanto stuff is improving revenue for farmers. and those poor farmers in India that had to take a loan to buy the seeds? Noone forced them... You can buy a GM car with a special GM loan, families take a 2nd mortgage on their home to buy a fancy car, noone seems to care.

Buying seeds that actually give a higher revenue are bad. But forcing people to buy a can of soda, where there are cheaper alternatives, is all ok, 'american dream' etc.

I dont really understand what the problem is with monsanto. Farmers get better, shareholders get better. And for the rest they have the same agricultural disadvantages as 30 yr ago. Pesticides (but they are better now than then) and biodiversity lowering, but thats not monsantos fault.

my 2 cents;)

The Counting House : 4/10 ... another crappy and low budget horror movie. unwatchable.
Diary Of The Dead : 4/10 ... the more i see them, the more i hate movies where the action is seen from a cam, just like cloverfield. other than that, the rest could be acceptable.
Matrimonio Alle Bahamas (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1050251/) : 3/10 ... another italian (only ?) stupid movie as i call them really bad other than stupid
I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry : 6/10 ... i give this comedy a full sufficient vote, nothing spectacular or something that made me stay on the floor laughing for all the lenght of it but still quite watchable and funny.
Porky College 1 & 2 : 6,5 & 4,5 /10 ... i found the first one really fun for the most part of it, a good stupid movie ! The second one is nearly pathetic.

so... SO many stupid things wrong with this... too much blood to be a kids cartoon... way too fucking retarded to be anything someone over 5 would find bearable.

but hey. atleast it was better than the tripping the rift movie, AND seed... so its only my third worst film of the year instead of worst Wink

Iron Man - 5/10

Wasn't really bad but it's been done quite a few times before so there was only the fx part of the movie to enjoy. And why did they have to sign up big name actors since there was hardly any acting going on. One character whose acting I did like was his robot assistant. Very R2D2 /Johnny 5. Very Happy Didn't like the fact that the arch-nemesis put in an appearance only at the end and for a very short time.

i was thinking that two. there was no rambo tracking one super bad guy with a knife and then slittin his throat.

still, when he guts that guy at the end its pretty sick Very Happy

Also, he should have got the girl. All that work and he didnt even get pussy? They should have had the last 10 mins split in 2 parts. part 1) he bangs the fuck outta that chick for 5 mins, hardcore style party 2) then he goes home.

A sex scene would have gave this movie a ten in my books. you always need a sex scene in an action movie
