Doomsday - 3/10

How could anyone compare that fucking showcase of extreme ADD in movie making to Mad Max or 28 days later is beyond me.

P.S. - This score goes to the actual 'movie', not the 15-minutes Bentley commercial in the end.

speed racer

initially i trashed this film, i thought visually it looked stupid and was just flat out going to suck. saw the reviews coming in and was actually HAPPY it was getting so heavily panned

but fuck it i downloaded the cam (mainly to see just how bad it was Very Happy) and damn.. i gotta say.. i was wrong. kinda. its got its problems, it runs about 30 minutes too long, and that kid and the stupid monkey are horrible characters that should have been left out - they completely ruin it.

that aside, i was pleased to see that the movie actually had quite a bit of action and racing in it which surprised me, i had expected a lot less.

the visuals are so over the top that they actually work... its not remotely realistic and its not supposed to be, its a live action cartoon just like casshern was... its meant to look cgi and artificial. the action choreography was really great.

the acting wasnt too bad, goodmans always good (ha ha), and the others work just fine (cept that fucking kid...) - so yeah.. i actually enjoyed it way more than i thought i would, and i cant wait for this to come out in hd

its just a pity the wachowskis took the 'dumb' approach to the film, when i kinda feel like they shoulda aimed for something a bit more substantial for their followup film.. i also think they didnt know what demographic they really were aiming for... it was too silly for anyone over 16, but too long and a bit too 'dry' for kids... wish they woulda made it slightly more mature... and got rid of that stupid fucking kid and his fucking monkey... im telling you, the movie was good and woulda been really enjoyable without that little SHIT!!

6.5/10

Weren't the original speedracer cartoons also intended for kids? I never got around to seeing even one episode because they just looked so cheesy.

well of course they were intended for kids.

but noone makes a 2+ hour long film for kids... it felt a bit too serious for a kids movie, too dumb for an adults movie, is kinda what im getting at...

The Air I Breathe 2/10 - tries to intertwine the fate of four characters, but falls flat on its ass. Boring, dead acting that is unintentionally funny a couple of times. It's pretty much impossible to feel anything for these characters.

I've just rewatched the new one. Dunno what I gave it last time in this thread, but this movie is suprisingly good concidering how the old movies were (excluding First Blood).

Doomsday 7/10 (for the humour, probably about 5/10 for everything else)

......well....

Laughing

where do I start? Laughing

I was kinda perplexed when I went into the showroom and sat down. It started out a little B-movie, dodgy voice over which sounded like the director payed his grandad to put on a harsh voice and read a predictable end-of-the-world dialogue. I had litterally NO IDEA what the film was about before going in except what my GF said which was *it looks like a horror/thriller*. So..

Well, the film started out pretty slowly. Ton of kinda stupid dialogue, really bad acting despite a couple of good actors whom I spotted etc.. It didnt fill me with hope but we watched on. Basically, to cut a long story short, scotland got pwned by a mega virus, I was expecting zombies, but instead we got some kind of new-age-apocalyptic-punk type nutters wielding funny home-made weapons and wearing ridiculous clothes.

 Spoiler:

Although, this stuf aside, the movie started to get a little better when some bitch got her head cut off and her psycopath hubby selotaped it back on Laughing (I shit you not) and well.. after that none of it really made sense. Lots of gore, lots of bad language, lots of screaming and hillariously *wtf was that* moments. Although toward the third quarter of the film I was kinda Confused about what the hell I was watching. And the ending, WTF?

*spoilers from this point*

What the fuck?! I was laughing my head off throughout the last 20 mins of the film. It was just awesome. Really funny and violent Laughing The last quarter of the film saved it IMO. It was far from perfect, but somewhere between the over the top kills, retarded dialogue and pointless sets/costumes I still didnt get bored. I was entertained Confused

my GF said the same as me at the end when I asked her opinnion on the film.. "wtf. just WTF."

Star Wars Trilogy (orginal one). 10/10

The original star wars rocked.
The new trilogy with Anakin Sykwalker is good but Haden Christenson totally ruins some parts of each movie with his beyond shit acting.

Least Mark Hamel, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher could act. Backed up by a good story and you have a 10 movie
