I get 112 fps @ stress test with 9800pro xp3200+ 512DDR @ 1024 everything high.

maybe u have crappy mem on ur vid.

Well your processor is 600mhz faster, so that may account for some of the difference.

I got a 9800pro 128mb ddr 256bit + 512ram + 2400+ and i only get 63 fps in the stress test 1024/high. I did notice that when i OCd my comp 100mhz~ that i got almost a 6 fps boost. This game appears to be heavily CPU reliant. Anyhoo, peace,

fear the led zeppelin that was!

yea I read somewhere, that HL² needs a cpu above a 2200+ to run on highest settings smoothly. I dont mind because a game runs smooth for me, when the fps something about 30fps. Nothing big...

you need Counter-Strike:Source.
to get it, you can:
1. buy it along with hl²
or
2. download the emporio release

I go with the second Very Happy

Do you need to install steam and that crap just for the stress test?
It would be fun to do the test only.

The Emporio Release comes as non-steam. They emulate steam through a dos window or something. Im not into that stuff.

Then you have to pay 50 euro, or what ever money you use.

Well... because if you really want to play a game It's fair to pay for it.

And I recon that valve might implent some anti-warez code for future online play which will close all "illegal" players out from the normal online game.

And the game deserves it anyway.

oh ic...ah well I dont play css too often. I just dont want to spend 50€ for a game through steam. My time (and my money for valve) will come when HL² gets released on the 16th.

Actually if you looked at my specs I'm glad I get 40-50 FPS. That's why I have that Very Happy. I thought I was gonna get like 20-30 FPS or less. I play most of my games at 800x600 so I don't really care for that.

I just want the stress test to see what sort of gaming experience I'm going to have before buying the game.
Valve should offer a downloadable stress test, to see if it's worth you buying the game.

I got a sweet score with my system. A score i never thought i would see on my machine.
High settings was used (including shadows). No af or aa for obvious reasons. 1024x768 was also used.

I scored 65fps with these settings Smile
My system is a gf4 running at 275/630, 512mb ram running at fast timings, a tbred cpu running at 213x10.5 for the moment (it's usually higher). Dx8 shaders takes off some of the stress but i couldnt care less since i think the dx9 shaders are way overdone in this.

I would take this test with a grain of salt though. HL2 will demand alot more because this test was hardly demanding at all.
I also tried cs and man, roads are way too shiny even with DX8 shaders. Valve need to use less shaders :/

Wow! I updated my CAT drivers for my 9800np and got 82fps in the stress test with 2x antro, no AA, everything else as high as it goes, and 1024x768. Before updating I was only getting 56fps underthe same settings.

2.8GHZ P4
512 PC3200
9800NP

ATI is getting much better with drivers.

The fx cards sucked when they came out and some time after but now most things are fixed so they are far from bad now.
