no pride but you come to the bitching sectiong bragging about how the rat stood there giving you the evil eyes before charging at you like a juggernaut you somehow manage to grapple the rat to the floor before using all your strength reserves to pin it down and slit its throat rambo style! Here I just have to save mice from our cat - hasn't happened anymore for a long time though.
Once I had to retrieve the poor thing from the mouth of our cat. Stupid thing was, that the cat obviously noticed that I was about to take his prey from him so he applied more strength biting, when my fingers were between his teeth... that hurt. I think the mice survived the attack itself, don't know wether she lived for long after I let set her free.

I was doing a prespringclean yesterday. Cleaning the kids bedrooms, when I heard my cat screaming. I think I cleared my stairs in I think a single step. Ran into the kitchen and saw my cat fighting a rat. They're fairly common around here because I live on with my back garden connecting to Jesmond Dene.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesmond_Dene
Anyway not willing to put my hand in the middle of a flurry of cats claws and rats teeth I picked up my mop and hit the rat on its back. The way it squealed I think I broke its back. I got it by the scruff of the neck and cut its throat. The cat was very shaken and had numerous cuts and bites on her which she let me clean up and apply some Iodine. I took her to the vets and she got a couple of injections and was cleaned up further. That cost me £160.
I think the rat was after the cats food and the cat took offence. She's only small but hell she fights like a demon.
Can I say I hate rats.

My dog has killed 2 rats.

One came into the house and the dog knew it imed. From the the dogs behaviour I knew something was up. 2:30am and I had to turn the couch backwards and jump on it to get the rat out but as soon as I did my faithfull dog was on it on a sec. I ever knew what part of the upside couch to jump on because of that dogs sniffer. The Rat came in because I have a bird feeder with seeds and he ran in through the sliding door or the cement patio.

The next rat he caught on his own was a FAT RAT (with babies in her) . Maxim caught that one as she was trying to under the shed after I cut the exit off. That rat bit him on the nose quite deep. He killed it before I was able to get it away from him.

I think rats make cool pets but the outside ones have disease and are not healthy. I am glad my dog had his shots.

i don't get this "i feel sorry for the rat" attitude. Non-domestic rats are disease carriers/spreaders, they should be wiped out to be honest. Mosquitoes as well.

Kinda off-topic but I like your dog's name! It happens to be the same as mine Smile
Most people write it as "Maxime", how come you chose the less french-sounding version?
