Arrow

Arrow IMDb

Code:
An overpaid, cocaine-addled Parisian ad man is so disgusted by his craven, manipulative profession that he kills himself in "99 Francs." Wait! No, he doesn't. Well, maybe he does. Jan Kounen, the Carlos Castaneda of hipster helmers, injects a massive dose of pleasingly hallucinatory visuals into this screen adaptation of Gallic media gadfly Frederic Beigbeder's zeitgeist-nailing novel. Pic features yet another zesty, near-irresistable perf by Jean Dujardin ("Brice de Nice," "OSS 117") as smartass creative type Octave, whose professional success holds the germ of personal failure.

Nice book by Frederic Beigbeder, but movie sucks IMHO
Jan Kounen didn't dig enough on the philisophical dimension of the character...

Anyway, the hallucinatory visuals are great...

Yeah, already mentioned this jewel in 'last watched movie'. Brilliant.

P.S. The latest book "Au secours pardon" with the same hero is much fun too, as are all his books anyway

Have you tried "L'Amour dure 3 ans"... It's the best one IMHO.
"Au secours pardon" wasn't that much fun to me... It's getting redundant...

Well it's just that Beg's books are popluar among the so called moscow elite so the distributors bought this film. A lot of other movies, both EU and US don't get a chance at the cinemas while Meet the Spartans does well at the box office.

The latest TV version is butt ugly. Ignore it even if you see TV-rips with fansubs. It's a disaster.

Btw Roman Polanski wanted to make it into a movie but WB got scared of the superbudget.

Now Scott Steindorff (producer behind Turistas and Penelope) is making a M&M movie too but something tells me it will be awful Smile Although the director hasn't yet been announced. I wish Gullermo Del Toro would shoot it Smile

99 Francs (2007), the latest from the director of Dobermann, is set to hit French shops tomorrow. The film arrives as a single disc and a metal tin 2SE. English subtitles will not be offered by Pathe.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=528065

You all willl have to wait for fan-subs. How much would it have cost to add another set of subs? I know it probably cost more than we imagine because it would have to be done by professionals who would (over)charge like crazy but can't be much compared to the cost of the film. And considering the number of people who don't speak french but would want to see this movie it's just weird that the subs weren't added.
