I hope that this game will be multilanguage as Gears of War or Viva Pinata, it's ridiculuos that in 8 gb of space is impossible to add other language than English.....

That was on "all-high". Solution: lower the quality.

It's built on the UE3 -- and that runs with maximum settings over double that framerate. There really is NO excuse.

A new game doesn't perform that well on a 2 generations old video card, what a shock!

Troll much..?

This is the kind of bullshit why I've pushed the PC to the back-burner, in terms of actually giving a shit. Devs just can't be fucked with the whole "optimisation" process anymore. They just push out any old shit and expect people to upgrade.

Thanks, but no thanks, Bioware. I'll stick to my X360 version. Trading my 8800GT for a 360 was the best gaming decision I've made in a long, long, time.

It runs? Rolling Eyes An engine is an engine ffs, how the hell does it run. You don't know what goes behind the scenes in Mass Effect.

Gah >_<

nice catch, sorry. I meant that Unreal3 runs gloriously, with maximum settings, on a 79GT. That, too, is built on UE3.

As for "what goes ON (Razz) behind the scenes in Mass Effect" -- it still doesn't equate to such a magnificent performance drop. Not IMO, at least.

If it doesn't play satisfactorily in my PC on 1024x768 (like Unreal 3,The Witcher and Call of Duty 4 for example, those were great) I'm not gonna buy it, I'll just pirate and store it on my external drive for the future.

No way I'm churning out more FUCKING money for FUCKING upgrades Sad

Anyway, I didn't mean to start off ANOTHER discussion .. I was just expressing my "displeasure" at yet another game with piss-poor optimisation. I'll "acquire" the game and try it. If it runs how I want it too, then I'll do what I did with the 360; I'll buy it.

If not? *shrugs* I'll just keep my ill-gotten gains.

The Geforce 7 serie is a bit old by now but it's still offers good performance in recent titles albeit one might need to scale some effects down or otherwise tweak the visuals a bit. (Secondary computer here uses one, dad mainly uses it for work and racing games, works OK but Dirt was a bit sluggish at higher resolutions / though that was expected.)

Compared to Unreal 3 I'd say Mass Effect will be a bit more demanding as more things go on in the background (Similar to Gears of War.), especially as the game was improved for PC specifications with higher texture resolution and the characters look a bit more detailed polygon and texture wise compared to U3.
(Not to mention things like shader effects, shadows, lightning and especially together with what looks to be large open levels with several characters on the screen at once.)

I actually figured that the game would be demanding due to this and infact I thought it would be even more demanding than that benchmark shows.
(Albeit atleast it's not like Cryis which is hardware crazy. )

True. Crysis is just a joke.

As for GoW, that too runs flawlessly (max settings) on my old 7900GTO (The GTO is all-but-identical to the GTX, just slower memory frequencies)

To be honest, I'm just a little disappointed. No matter Smile

Nah, I never run any game at 1024. If I can't run a game satisfactorily at 1280, I don't play it. I used to just wait until I upgraded (... and bitching about it in the meantime, heh)

Then run it at 1280 with AA, AF, and VSYNC off. Plus a combo of med-high ;o
Well, all good in theory, guess we just have to wait for the game to get released. >_>

LMAO!! That's true. I'm sat here bitching about a game that isn't even out yet -- and I'll bet reviewers have preview or promo copies, which may or may not be as optimised as Gold-builds.

Oh and I agree. I don't use AA or Vsync on my games (unless I know my hardware could handle it, like my old 8800GT) so that should help performance I guess.

That's true, but Me for 360 is not multilanguage right?

Laughing No worries, I understood what you meant. I think there's a huge difference though. In UT3 (Razz) you play on small maps that aren't that detailed (aside from the post processing). If you opened GoW SP files in the editor, you'd know those levels are much smaller than the UT3 ones. In ME you have much bigger maps, and maybe dumb ass devs didn't use streaming (or maybe they couldn't).

*chuckles*

And this is all I'm talking about, guys. I'm not bitching because "my PC isn't powerful enough" (I've just gotten RID of my 8800GT) -- I'm bitching because developers just don't care enough to optimise anymore. They either don't care, or if you want to wear some tinfoil on your head; They're TOLD to make sure the game only runs perfectly on the highest-of-the-highest high-end hardware. Or in the case of Crysis, it can't be run fullstop. Not yet.

That kind of stuff is what pisses me off. We're all stuck in a trap of constantly upgrading -- and for what? What the fuck for? So the latest game can laugh in our faces as we have to turn settings down?

As those benchmarks showed (and again, as I said, they may or may not be gold-release benches) that PC was running a QX6850 and a range of GPUs .. and was still getting awful performance on the most COMMON of GPUs. You have to buy the absolute best just to attain playability?

That's just NOT right.

I'm overjoyed I have the 360 version, despite the framerate issues during intense fights, because I'd have been gutted at not being able to properly play the PC one Smile
