Or am i missing something about tuning and powering up the car?

Are you sure? I remember something about the number of wrecks and number of event wins counting as a difference.

That's what the voice says but would be interesting to know if there's actually any difference.

There shouldn't be. maybe the cars have already some damage when you start the race, but you cant repair cars or tune them , so there shouldn't be any difference.

I was thinking about running the engine for the first amount of Mph/kmh etc, would be cool Smile

They dont got damage when u start a race.
I bought 2 used cars, but cant find any diff.
If there are no differences, why bother buying used cars anyway?
Price is close at new most of the time.
but eh i dont know about this, lets find out Smile

, and @ spykez, i still dint notice the replay option? after the race.
Can it be im low on diskspace?

Got my controller working now... the game plays pretty well, but I miss all the environement things like weather in nfs:hs. Rain, storms, snow, and fog really make a difference.

I also haven't seen any really cool maps like the old nfs:hs woodland maps with waterfalls, or the high cliff edge maps it had as well.

Still this is the best racing game I've seen come along since then, so it's a breath of fresh air.

Seems there's a little too much oversteer, but maybe once I get used to it, I'll like it.

if it looks like it has replay legs, I'll happily buy a copy, just to show PC gaming support.

Man what is up with driver offers. They appear randomly and then disappear even if you don't complete bonus objective? No way to try them again?

Also what is up with season ending randomly or is there some indicator somewhere about seasons? Le Mans pops up and then you can't do anything just complete it ir retire.

I wasn't expecting to see the exact same maps from nfs, but I WAS expecting to see something similar...more dynamic looking terrains, with interesting visual points, like waterfalls, hot air balloons, or lighthouses. Lack of weather conditions seems like a HUGE loss in replayability, as well as being able to play reverse maps.

The graphics are quite stunning, but I look for "fun" in my racing games, not just uber realistic graphics.

Finding this quite easy so far, turned all the driving aids off straight away but you really need to use some sort of analogue control to accelerate otherwise you'll spin out all the time, and you need to know what corners you need to brake on and what ones you can speed round. I can see how people can find this hard to race though Smile

so what options does everyone play with?

my steering deadzone is 30% and steering saturation is 55%, I haven't really figured out how to config it perfectly yet Sad

I haven't changed my breaking deadzone/saturation yet. . . not exactly sure how it works lol.

Slipstreaming behind your car perhaps for the overtake on the straight?... don't know as I haven't had the time to play it properly yet.

If i'm not mistaken it was this games demo that used up ~500 MB on C: for a replay.(sth) file, so yeah your hunch might be right Smile

Boy, did I find that out the hard way Razz

I was like, I'll do this on extreme w/o a problem (360 controller) but that doesn't really go well if you don't know the tracks (other then de demo ones)
So I turned the difficulty to serious (w/o any assists>pro mode>Inside camera) and its going alot better now Razz

Steering deadzone 5%
Steering saturation 100%
Steering linearity 0
Accelerator deadzone 5%
Accelerator saturation 95%
Brake deadzone 5%
Brake saturation 95%

Brake/gas saturation in 95% so that I always get full gas/brake, calibration isn't exact on my wheel.

If you go messing up with steering saturation, you have to touch linearity, because it gets too sensitive. 5% steering deadzone keeps you straight on straights, unless you happen to have rock solid hand that don't move a millimeter even on Le Mans straights.

Anything other than 0 linearity mean that you are using "mouse acceleration" type of thing, where wheel movement isn't constant. Positive means that on center position the wheels turn less than on sides and negative just the opposite.

Anyways saturation is the amount of travel controller has to do to achieve it's goal.
Deadzone is the amount of movement that doesn't do anything from that normal position onwards. (center for steering)

If you are with wheel, check that you get 100% gas (top white bar is fully lit). With my wheel I sometimes only got like 90% power, top bar only half lit with pedal to the medal. 95% saturation fixes that. Old wheel, calibration doesn't stay exact all the time Smile

If it ain't than the AI was just slipstreaming (reducing his wind resistance) to go faster than it's possible driving alone. Though that isn't anything like 50mph faster, more like 5-10mph, unless the car has a very high last gear and not enough torque to go faster.

If someone came speeding past you at that speed it's probably just to do with how fast his teams car is. Also you have different classes in the same race sometimes so 50% of the cars on the track will be faster than the rest.

There is catch-up in online races, but haven't seen than in single player. Drive with too low difficulty and AI is miles away, so there is none.

-----

One thing that bothers me was that in drift races you have no idea how much you'd have to score. First drift GP I took part in made something like 700k in first try and AI only 120k. If I'd known that I would have upped the difficulty. Only thing I had going was the demo, where computer got 700K on normal.

Sure you could try your hardest on every corner, but once you know you got enough score it would be fun just to relax and enjoy drifting. Usually it's the computer that drives first and you try to beat that. But not a big complaint, if you don't score enough the first time, then you know how much you need.

Think from now on it's better to up difficulty to drift races no matter how weird track or car it is. AI should score a lot more, or there should be a limit to the multiplier, or better yet you'd need a real drift to affect the multiplier, not just little smoke on straights..
