Yeah, I was gutted by that too. When I first loaded it up, it was great.. no issues with texture loading, but as soon as I got near the end of the first mission -- constant texture loading issues. :\

Are you deliberately being argumentative? Of course you are, but I'll humour you anyway;

The game is unoptimised on lower/middle-spec PCs. Saying "It runs great for me!" when you've got a high-end Core2 and an GeForce 8800 is like saying "Well I can do 0-60mph in less than 4seconds" when you've got a Ferrari Rolling Eyes

Don't blame the game for texture pop ins, it's the shitty UE3. I remember similar bullshit happening in UT3 once you load a new level.

It's a problem of the UE3. UT3 has the same issue, GoW has it. In fact, the only UE3 games I don't remember having it were BioShock and Stranglehold.

But it's not noticeable when playing without fraps.

Kommando, <3 thanks for the support, but no worries, no nubs will discourage me. Laughing

I didn't know that ... mainly because I didn't play UT3 for long enough >_> The game sucked compared to UT2004 and it really put me off the series.

i was only going to download the PC version for the no POP-UPS textures , have the x360 allready and i don't care about those DLCs but after playing 5h on the PC version and its all hands down ... the porting team failed me in my case , yeah we get new HUD to help PC players with Team command (though the x360 circle was a lot better) and thats it - oh yeah if you count the free DLC ... thats really it

Well , i can run it on my old Athlon 64 3200 , 6800 GT and 1 gig of ram @1366 x 768 with textures and particule effects set to high (not ultra high) and motion blur + dynamic shadows set to off. It runs well so far , pretty much exactly like Bioshock did. No i don't get 712 FPS but about 25-30 and it's very playable as there is almost zero stuttering. Now im only at the beginning at the game and may experience framedrops in later stages but so far so good.

I can't run Crysis and other newer games on this rig without them being unplayable but i can play Mass Effect just fine so ill say that the engine is pretty optimized for prehistoric rigs like me. Cool

This game is amazing! Why can't they make a Star Trek game like this?

I couldn't be happier that this game is using original setting and not some milked to death geek movie franchise. I don't need to see annoying star wars characters or some shitty star trek character that means nothing to me for once and it's awesome.

I can see what you mean but I mean as well....Mass Effect has already been thankfully created. A nice new and unique story and characters. Now it would be really nice to see Star Trek done in this high production value along with the game play style. I love Star Wars and Star Trek, but Star Trek has never really been done right. Elite Force was not deep enough. A Bioware Star Trek game would be deep and rich in RPG!

That's taken on my machine, outside of a fire-fight too, which is a DualCore Opteron at 2.7Ghz with 2GB of 550Mhz DDR1 and a 7900GTO clocked at 650/1500 .... with High/High settings. Yet you claim to be performing the same with a 6800GT, 1GB RAM and a singlecore CPU?

Cool, well I'm happy for you.

I also have the save problem. I press F6 and it says Save Failed. Moments earlier F6 was saving just fine. This is really reminiscent of Sims 2 when it came out. That copy protection would let a crack start the game but you couldn't use build mode.

Damn.. Sad

I remember that protection too. Well, I'm only on the first mission at the moment -- but I'll be playing for a while later, as will my brother, so I'll update if anything funky happens to me too.

Also, it works for you so that rules out that nasty Sims 2 type protection. We could be dealing with a bad crack along with a bug in the game. We need a new patch and a PROPER crack for the new patch.

I mainly just lurk here, rarely post... However, I thought I'd let folks know that the galaxy map is not working for me either, doesn't matter which crack I use. I can right click a few times to get out of it, but that's about it. Don't think the groups tested their cracks very well Smile It's ok though, I'm patient. Aside from that though the game works and runs great.

How the heck do you exit the damn ship if you have the galaxy map glitch? I mean, you get around it the first time, but then I guess thatm when you click on a planet, a "land" option or so should pop up, instead I get the black screen again. Any idea?

No, I did get "save failed" at a few points, but I noticed "save" was gray in the menu, so... Last time I quit was after I had an auto save.

I hear that, it's all we can do is be patient since the game is free. Now if you bought it and you are having the same problem, it's bitching time.

Yeah, that's exactly the way I am dealing with it. I was all bummed and thinking I was going to have keep the game going until I solved it and then came the autosave. The huge exhale followed Smile
