Well that clinches it for me. There has to be some corruption in the video driver then. Nvidia will release a new video driver to fix this problem. Hopefully soon!

I have a question:

Yesterday I bought Mass Effect at Gamestop via download. Trouble is, the payment authorization and everything went just fine, but when I tried the download link they sent me it told me I can't download it since I'm not from USA.

Now they say there are no refunds for Mass Effect but I think this does not apply in this case.

What do you think?

You can get the pirated retail-setup, but can you get the original cdkey ?

Or you can use a proxy to fool the country detection.

There are a few newer BETA drivers from Nvidia. Someone should volunteer to be a guinea pig and try em out Smile

175.75 and 175.80 are the version numbers. ( http://www.guru3d.com )
(175.16 is the latest WHQL from nvidia's site)

This fucking quick save issue pretty much ruins the game.

I load in and it quick-saves fine. I run a quest and go through a loading screen, all of a sudden, quick-save failed. I go back to the exact same spot it worked in before, quick-save failed. What the heck gives?

Game issue? Crack issue? I'm at a loss here.

Also, randomly after exiting and trying to boot the game I get that "Your game has been corrupted" bullshit.

Vista-x64.

Tried the thread on the official forums but it doesn't help me - I installed the game to the same drive I install all my games to - and the bioware folder was created fine, my profiles save fine, its just the quick-save/save not working greyed out thing. Sad

Yes you get the CDkey but can't download the game. Well tried with this proxy thing but the problem is, the region is checked for downloading. No proxy is going to allow me to download 7 gigs of data through it. You usually get a limit of 1mb or smth like that.

For me, the galaxy map problem only occurs if it tries to load the planet's view (or I guess it should be that).

When I leave the Citadel, I press RMB and it takes me to the Cluster View. I travel to a new system, and I have to tap the RMB again, and it goes straight to cluster view again (I assume that the default screen would be the planet info screen that is exited via RMB). Galaxy View and Cluster View is just fine. If I try to zoom into a stellar system to check the planet, the thing dies instantly. If I'm fast enough, I might be able to zoom out to Cluster View, but if I let it zoom in, the game dies all the time.

From my experience it seems that if you run the launcher it detects that you have a non legit copy of the game, and "corrupts" your settings/saves folder under Documents. Thus giving you the "Your Game Has Been Compromised, Please Reinstall" error. If you just remove the BioWare folder in your documents it fixes the issue but you lose your save game Smile

Solution: Don't use the game launcher. Simply run the cracked .exe file.

You can grab the "downloadable" ISO off any of the normal sites .. just don't crack it. Install, use your legit key, load the game Smile

There's no actual "protection" on the .EXE -- except online authentication, which you'll pass by using your retail key.

Yeah, same here with the saves. Can't see how it can be anything other than crack related.

Honestly, I'm in the same boat as you. I think the game may well be worth the $49.95 from what I've played so far. However, rent is due on the 1st as well as other bills so I'm a bit strapped at the moment, that and the ugly galaxy map problem are the two issues keeping me from purchasing it...

True but remind me again, why pay for something when you have to pirate it to get it to work? Very Happy

No, I did get "save failed" at a few points, but I noticed "save" was gray in the menu, so... Last time I quit was after I had an auto save.

Yeah, that's exactly the way I am dealing with it. I was all bummed and thinking I was going to have keep the game going until I solved it and then came the autosave. The huge exhale followed Smile

MD

The only reliable way I've found to trigger an autosave is to go keep on going back to the Citadel tower.

That's taken on my machine, outside of a fire-fight too, which is a DualCore Opteron at 2.7Ghz with 2GB of 550Mhz DDR1 and a 7900GTO clocked at 650/1500 .... with High/High settings. Yet you claim to be performing the same with a 6800GT, 1GB RAM and a singlecore CPU?

Cool, well I'm happy for you.

I hope that image isn't too large so it breaks the rules >_< They did say no larger THAN 1024x768

Yes but what resolution are you playing at ? Because it make quite a big difference if a play @ 1440 x 900 (monitor) vs 1368 x 760 (HDTV). It runs jerky @ 1440 (about 15fps i would say) but OK at 1360 (25-30fps). Note that this is without dynamic shadow , motion blur and filtering set to linear.

Trust me , i can play this game without any issues (yet) on my old rig and i'm not lying. What would be the point anyway ?

1024x768 .. if I increase the res to my "normal" resolution of 1280x1024, it's all but unplayable (14-18fps)

I'm not calling you a liar, I just think that unless you have FRAPS running .. I think you're misjudging the framerate. Though I do have AF and Dynamic Shadows enabled, that's only to be expected from a PC that is roughly twice as powerful :-\

Well yeah i may be misjudging the framerate but it's probably not by much. I can easily recognize when a game runs below 20 FPS and i know that ME on my rig is above that. Not by much mind you but it's clearly above.

Will try FRAPS for the fun of it and will report here.

Tried this, doesn't work. I get "game has been compromised" even though I've never touched the launcher. It seems that once you get to Citadel it is impossible to save manually.
