Increase the cars LOD? Though I have to say, I have a x1300 on my laptop, and I run GRID on its lowest settings, and still everything looks much better. :\

So is this an issue with the ATI card or what was the problem? Isn't the 2600XT like...a low end piece of crap?

It is, but it's much better than my x1300 Mobility Radeon, so no excuse to have PS1 graphics... Bad settings in the drivers.

Actually, you need to instal Catalyst 8.5 or 8.2.

I had the exact same problem with shitty geil memory, good price shitty preformance, try running a memory benchmark on your memory to see if it's the memory. if tweaking/upgrading your graphic driver does not work.

Major phail, memory doesn't cause textures to suddenly look like from PS1 era. They lock the PC or crash the application.

Sound like bad mipmapping (lod usually apply to geometry). If all your in-game options are set to maximum, must be the drivers. I don't know much about Catalyst except that you need the latest version lol. Always been a nvidia user but I guess there are 3D settings somewhere.

Quote: | x) Graphical corruption on ATI’s Radeon X1xxx cards:
You may experience graphical problems if using a Radeon X1300 through to X1950 graphics card with Catalyst 8.3 drivers. This is down to a problem with this specific version of the drivers, and can be fixed by switching to a different driver version. At the time of writing, the problem must be fixed by rolling back to an older driver version. To do this, first uninstall the Catalyst 8.3 or 8.4 drivers via the control panel (Add/Remove Programs in XP, or Programs and Features in Vista), then browse to the following website: ati.amd.com/drivers. Choose your operating system and graphics card from the lists, and click GO. If the subtitle of the page is “ATI Catalyst™ 8.3 (or 8.4) Display Driver…”, scroll to the bottom of the page, and choose “Previous Drivers and Software”. Download and install the Catalyst 8.2 drivers.
Future driver versions (i.e. 8.5 and later) should be fixed so that this problem no longer occurs. |
