Disable Kaspersky, then log in with the Administrator account, disable Kaspersky's service through msconfig and restart. Worked for a friend.
Or try to use the -novirtual command line switch ! Worked for me.

Hey anyone had problems with GamPad Detection with Grid?.. I use a generic gamepad.. but I've never had problems w/ other games. Any help?
Edit: Solved that problem.

Yep, some japanese events are really out of balance. I still suck at the Valvoline Trophy driving the Spyder. Japanese guys drive like they have their mother-in-law on the back seat. Hardest race so far and i am no noob anymore, got the 1m ranking...

Love this game. Been working my way up the Japanese ladder recently. The Japanese races seem pretty tough, compared to the others. I got a Japanese teammate though who always finishes first for me heh, so still get some money. Overall a really fun racing game.

LoL! Been playin this game yesterday 4 hours non stop!
OMFG its fun! The handling is really good and u can drive
very fast trough corners and the SPEED! is Fking g00d!
I have finished now alll the 3 first blocks of races.
With a team mate and all. Its still veyr fun and now get
a little bit difficult. Very funny how u can make money
on car with e-bay.
For the bitches having problems with KAV. . .
Set your firewall on learning mode. Start GRiD.
Alt+tab out of the game. Accept the shit that
your firewall gaves up. Maybe more then one time.
Then when done put your firewall back in high security.
It works fine like this never have to TURN iT OFF!
Also this was needed for me (XP SP2)
Or try to use the -novirtual command line switch ! Worked for me.

@VGAdeadcafe: Thank you very much. Your commandline switch-trick works flawlessly for me. Finally solved my problem.

Speaking of command line switches, anyone know if there is one to put the game into windowed mode? Tried -windowed, -window, and -w. There probably isn't one, but maybe there is.

Check your documents folder where GRID´s settings and game saves are stored. Open hardware_settings_config.xml with notepad, find:
<resolution width="1280" height="1024" aspect="5:4" fullscreen="true" vsync="1" oldWidth="1280" oldHeight="1024">
and edit fullscreen="false"

Read on the lower left to see which keys you have to press. Sometimes you have to press "shift" or "ctrl" for advanced settings, like mapping your gamepad.

@ Buena_Vista
Why don't you get a decent firewall for a start ? How can you trust that thing ?

It's uploading lap times after you finish each race in single player.
