I still do not have a HDTV but i do have a widescreen monitor which i use for my 360 no problem. Sony does not seem to have a vga cable though, i have researched this alot and i cannot see spending 150 dollars on a converter and the vga box i found for cheap i cant find anyone that has used it. I noticed some ppl have a third party vga cable like gameyeah.com but again, noone can confirm it actually works.I also found various hacks on youtube but no explaination as far as how. The way i found a little confirmation on is a hdmi to dvi cable with a cga adapter on the end of it, doing that and using the composite cable to run into a reciever some ppl have claimed it to work. DOES ANYONE HERE HAVE DEFINITIVE CONFIRMATION ON THIS METHOD? what method has someone done?I have read about HDCP causing issues if the monitor does not support it but i also read it only effects blu ray movie playback and i dont use it for that i only want to play games. If someone here has done this and could tell me for certain having tried it, if it works or not that would be great, I am about to go drop 50 bucks on the hdmi to dvi cable and the dvi to vga adapter, so i would like to know before i do that.
Sorry for the long winded post but thanks for reading and any kind of input u can give.

There isn't a cheap solution. For VGA you'll need to use the component output, that would mean you'll need some kind of transcoder to output to VGA. It isn't cheap. The PS3 is crap in the video output department. It's technical and I have no intention of explaining why, just google if you're interested. Your best option would be to buy a monitor with DVI input, a simple 10 bucks HDMI -> DVI cable would work with that. And you'll have a new monitor.

yeah where do u get the hdmi to dvi for ten bucks i have not found them, also there is a vga converter box all over ebay for 49.95 that will do up to four consoles, i just have not found anyone that has actually tried it. How about like i said with the hdmi to dvi to vga, and use the composite for the audio?.

The HDMI output doesn't have an analog signal, that won't work with VGA. Everywhere on the net you can buy a HDMI -> DVI cable, don't buy cables in stores.
