Am I correct, but to use sniper rifle's zoom, I should be Soldier class?

To use the sniper rifle zoom, you need to have at least one point spent in sniper rifle skill. It will be hard to aim until you have several points and/or a decent rifle though.

So, you can be a Soldier or Infiltrator for that. Or any other class if you've already unlocked the sniper rifle achievement with another character, but I can't think of a class where that isn't a waste of a bonus talent.

--------------------

Anyone else having problems with weapons becoming permanently overheated? Not talking about an enemy using sabotage on me, it happens when I'm a mile away with the sniper rifle or even when in the Mako. It never happened until I was about halfway through the game, and it's not limited to the cracked exe either.

I have a question: I just started exploring planets, and then found some probes that I wanted to secure. But then it tells me my tech skill is too low. Well, I am a soldier. But what do I do? Can you use your squadmates to do this? Or is this entirely impossible for a soldier to do?

Use your squad. Smile

I usually use Alenko and Lliara when playing as a soldier in order to have both decent tech and biotic capabilities. (Garrus is a good soldier/tech combination while Tali is a pretty good engineer and Wrex has some basic Biotic abilities albeit Ashley isn't that useful aside from extra firepower.)

EDIT: This isn't much of a spoiler I hope as the game makes it pretty obvious via the effectiveness bar shown during character selection.

Stupid question: How do you use them? What button do you have to press or which switch to activate so that it uses them?

I don't think you have to do anything - once they are in your party, you get to use their abilities - hacking, electronics etc

Someone confirm

I think you can activate their skills when using the order menu (spacebar), I haven't tried to secure any probes though.
Wrex is the guy I usually take with me because he's a good fighter and he's hilarious in most situations

In ME manual is written:
>>Specialization boosts class-specific talents. After completing an optional
Systems Alliance Military assignment, choose a specialization for your
character, increasing the maximum Talent points you can spend on
class-specific talents.<<

Can anybody clarify there I can "choose a specialization" ?

Is this true? Because I've got a squadmate with the requisite number of electronics points (It needs 5, I think I have 6 or 7) and I can't salvage any probes whatsoever.

I played trough the game using a Soldier class (Basic but it worked quite well.) and thus relied on companions with a Biotic specialty and a Tech specialty once I had gained a few extra levels to get their required skills up a bit.
(Those triangular and circular marks show that you will unlock specific talents, abilities and bonuses when you reach them, such as hacking or decrypting locks and computers of different types and difficulties - this is especially needed for higher levels where containers and similar are very well protected and much harder to bypass without using Omni-Gel to automatically bypass the mini-game.)

EDIT: The name of the container will usually show how difficult it will be to open it. Smile
(Albeit probes, satellites, minerals and computers doesn't have this naming scheme.)

EDIT: By the way, anyone know what that circular floating Prothean globe found on a specific place does?
(Seemed interesting enough but I couldn't do anything specific with it after starting it.)

A little bit off topic, but is it me or aren't Garrus face textures as crisp as the other npc's?

And yes, everything including textures are on the highest setting.

time to say my opinion on the game so far (almost near the end )

the good:

Gameplay wise, its identical as the KOTORS. Go there take quest- go over there and talk to X then Y, kill Z and so on... the ordinary for the genre things and there are not badly done.. I really liked the mini games so far.. i even still enjoy the decryption mini game (at lvl 43 char) The achievements give you something to go on and on Smile The skills are spectacular- it's like a star wars game -without the lightsabers.. Razz

The graphics are crisp and clean- i just wow-ed seeing the character models- especially the alien types- i don't think i've even seen a game with such detailed faces.. ever.
The art of the main planets is really nicely done- especially Feros

The dialogs are one of the best ever- because of the superb voice acting..

now the bad things..(bigger Razz)

the dialogs.. you don't really have much control of what are you saying, you just have 3 options with crappy titles to choose from- good-neutral-evil Sad

i hate the mako vehicles parts... all the planets are like the same with different texture...
there is no additional grass, no objects on them, once in a while there are 3-4 creatures. And i hate passing the mountains- with their strange pointy edges with the same texture..

Overall it looks unnaturally empty and lifeless... The same can be said for all the places you visit.. there are no civilians just walking around in the cities.. no nothing , only static NPC.. Especially on the Normandy i wished to have a bunch of NPC just walking around the ship to make it more alive.. That's the biggest problem of the game..The lack of immersion- it would be so great to drive on a planet and come to a big city with spaceports, skyscrappers and ships..Sad or at least to have some sort of flora & fauna.. Sad

the second most annoying thing is the lack of areas- just some generic one- for the side-quest planets.. There are 2 templates for stations, 1 for spacestation, 1 for mine and that's all Sad - and it's always full of crates..

the lack of customization is the 3rd *nah* for me.. aside the mod & stats- it's all the same with different colors.. but it's ok i guess- and why on earth i have to carry a sniper on my back when i can't use it...

for me there is one nasty bug.. there is a big chance that when the weapon overheats.. it stays that way- till i save- and then load, anyone else got this bugger?

overall i love it... it's great fun to play my vanguard/nemesis/

edit: yeah there is something wrong with Garrus's face...

VGAdeadcafe- thanks Very Happy it works..

You use that shitty crackfix, don't you ? There is supposed to be an even newer one that fixes that.

Man, this is THE game of the year for me (PC version), never finished it on the 360 and I never really got in to it due to the 360 controller (which I hate). Has everything, action, good story, cool side quests, brilliant graphics, sound etc etc. I guess only Empire Total War might take the title...for me that is, but that's far away and a totally different game. Just hate that I am off to Japan in the morning, and I am just carrying a shitty laptop. No way I will be able to play this "over there" Sad.

Brilliant game and well worth buying!

Thats funny, I got this bug during the last fight of the game. And I'm not using any crack at all. Huh. I guess it would be the: uber Shotgun + 2x 20% dam (10% overheat) + HE rounds (500% overheat). Easiest last fight ever Very Happy

Why cant i put points into Sniper as an infiltrator, its even supposed to be the main weapon of this class, doesnt make any sense.. Do i need to reach a certain level?

Weapons overheat for me all the time as well, i use the latest crack (ind-me-fixproper) that is supposed to fix the problem according to the .nfo, fresh install of the game and i've never used the console. It really sucks that the crack cant fix this (if its not supposed to be like this)..

The squad members are totaly useles i dont know why you have them.. If i'm low on health and i have my 2 team mates with full health they still cant take out 2 guys, they'll die in like 5 seconds, even if i try to place them smart.. Im even quite sure i've never seen them killing anyone, seems like they cant make damage and are only there for looks. I really prefer the way they did it in KOTOR, then i could take full control of my team mates to make sure there's no AI cheating going on.

Overall i like the game, but it has the same problem as kotor (which i enjoyed), the levels really lack detail, all the attention to detail has been put into story/characters, but not much at all into the levels/world itself which is very disapointing. By now at least they should have NPC scheduels and day/night cycles, but no..

OK, first of all Laughing. Now, in order to put point in the sniper, you need to unlock the ability. That you do with the pistol ability. Weapons everheat, that's the whole point... Rolling Eyes The bug that was in last crack was that weapons had weapons overheat and STAY overheated.

Ok, finished with the IND crack that fixed the overheating problem.
But, I only experienced the overheating problem only a couple of times anyways.

Didn't crash not even once through the whole experience.

Fun game. Makes me feel like buying it and supporting the devs - if only I had not promised myself i will never buy online activation stuff. Still, I may buy cause it was fun and I want to see more of this in the future. Plus I feel a wee bit guilty. Must have put in about 30 hours.

I thought it was a bug since i've spent as many points that is possible into that ability that makes weapons less prone to overheat.. it's still ridiculous how often/fast it happens. They sure make crappy weapons in the future! Maybe they should try another material, wood or whatever they use just doesnt seem to cut it Rolling Eyes

It's a bit annoying, especially when using powerful weapon addons such as HE rounds which causes a overheat after every shot (Albeit used with proper gear such as the master level spectre sniper rifle X and with the proper skills such as Assassinate will usually kills anything in one or two hits aside from those Geth walkers and Trasher maws.)

But it's also a part of gameplay and balance as you have unlimited ammunition.
(Would be quite easy otherwise to just hold down the fire button and storm everything with the assault rifle while your teammates takes most of the enemy fire.)
