80 you make another char ( different class and race ) and have fun
Different race? Makes no difference which race you picks anyhow.
And yeah, lots of fun making another char up to lvl55 and then having to grind it constantly again! Yippie!

Today, I played a bit more, to my surprise I actually enjoyed it a bit, until I got tired of grinding and decided I'd do some group quests (non-dungeons) on my alt character, wow, that has to be one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in Age of Conan.
First I go LookingForGroup for an hour while ganking both lowbies and equal level people (sadly, no one was particularly good so no death or challenge there, even pwned someone 9 levels over me...) using the brilliant OOC channel, because there is no LookingForGroup channel, hum, was this meant to be a singleplayer game or a multiplayer game, it's confusing... (slight touch of sarcasm if you didn't notice...)
Anyhow, I finally find a few people who wants to do some group quests (I clearly said which quests I needed to do when I was spamming OOC).
We all decide to join the same specific instance, which is the worst possible feature any MMO can have, bunch of instances separating people even though they're in the same zone. Wow, that must really encourage socializing in so many ways!
After I had to relog my character to actually change instances (yep, that's another bug that happens about seven times out of ten, happened to another guy in the party as well, lol), I quickly change instance. Just to notice, oh right, I can't do the group quest, because I was kicked out of the party when I relogged. This game really tries hard to encourage grouping for me.
Lucky me I remember the guys name, so I get reinvited.
We all go to the group quest I write in the party chat, but hey, somehow we can't find each other, not to odd considering the area for that quest is pretty broad with a lot of places to complete it at... That's great, I actually have to look for my teammates...
I say fuck it, and tell them all to go to a specific coordinate, all go there, I started seeing them appear on my minimap when they're 30 meters away from me, damn, that's a pretty long range. Truly next gen right there! I wonder how much CPU power and ram it must take for the game to show all my party members across the whole map instead of just 30 meters. Didn't funcom say this was some kind of a MMO? I thought MMOs were designed for several people, to me however it just seems like it was designed as a singleplayer rpg with a shitty online mode integrated...
Oh well.
We were one healer, one dps and one tank (me). We pwn these mobs hard, even though we're all at least 2 levels below them. That's odd, the quest is orange colored, and a group quest, I thought at least this was going to prove a challenge. Turns out, the healer barely had to heal even.
Gotta love MMOs, oh wait, I mean, Singleplayer Online RPGs!
And oh, I forgot to mention, we got exactly as much exp as we would've gotten, had we killed normal mobs outside of the party, only this took 3 times longer then killing normal mobs, and I'm not counting the relog issue, the fact that I had to run to a spawn point to change instance or the whole issue of having to look for my teammates cause the game is brilliantly designed not to show partymembers unless they're withing 30 meters of you! Crazy what the game does to encourage grouping!
lol i think i will stick with WoW for now, AoC will maybe reach it's full potential in a year or so
80 you make another char ( different class and race ) and have fun
Nah, do the same quests, see the same shit, NOT fun.. This is one of the many reasons WoW was just so much better than AoC. Every race and even class start off at a different place so you dont do the same quests or see the exact same stuff + there's a sense of belonging to a certain place in the game.
The combat is not even that good in AoC, its too slow and animation driven to be really dependant on player skill, in the end it didnt really feel that much different from WoW, just a bit more cumbersome to do all the moves, its fun at first but gets old.
I'm level 31 now and i doubt i will play this more, the quests are just so incredible boring and leveling is going slower and slower now, i think i got enough of this in WoW.
Reading the forums today is a major downer. Broke stuff, nerfed things, not sure if they actually fixed anything. Ah well, I'm still too low to be affected by it, but still.

Yeah its really getting hard to turn a blind eye to the problems. Yes, all MMOs experience problems at their launch, but it seems far worse with AOC as far as i can tell. As soon as you get over the new "radical" combat, its like any other mmo except stupid instances make you feel like you are playing SP with no npcs around, so it gets kind of lonely which is very weird feeling for an mmo. I am level 20 on my alt and i dont feel like doing anything since the items you find all look the same, with same bonuses (which i think dont do anything, because again, its broken). The combat in pvp is very annoying since every reasonable person you are attacking will quickly move away once you start doing a combo and you are stuck in that animation cutting the air like an idiot because you cant move or stop the animation. So it all comes down to a normal MMO combat, except you cant use your skills as a melee so you are stuck just with the stupid directional combat buttons.
I want to try a new class, but just the thought of going through the Tortage for the whatever time quickly kills that idea. I just cant see myself collecting those fucking skins for a trillionth time. I mean i think i rather grind in a new, interesting area, than killing 50 pics at the fucking empty island.
Reading today update notes, and im thinking WTF are they doing. Some bug fixes are good, but adding a level up sound??! Fixed freckles on faces??! Fixed animations during cutscenes!??! New voiceovers!?!? Fucking fix the game breaking bugs first, and then start working on polishing the fucking game.

I agree. Ah well, I am scared of them trying to fix the game breaking bugs because they seem to just break more stuff anytime they try to fix something. I am guessing that is what they are doing right now is implementing the patches the game needs to a test server and watching it break everything.

And another thing that really bothers me, is those stupid mofos who jump circles around you, and you cant hit them, wtf is that. I guess funcom did not expect people to do that, there were thinking everyone would fight like a gentlemen, stand face to face without moving, allowing others to execute their combos, congratulating them on the successfully performed combo and then use one of theirs, while the the other dude admires your execution.
I went into a dungeon, and got into a fight, we are fighting like gentlemen and i see that the dude is almost dead and i still have half of my health bar left, while im thinking of what should i do with his corpse after i kill him the mofo starts jumping around me like a fucking monkey, while im swinging my sword like a dumbfuck without doing any damage. So the fucking monkey killed me by just jumping around like a dumbass without performing a single combo.
Now they also nerfed a guarding the only useful skill they had, now tank is pretty much useless in pvp since his dmg output is laughable. Its ok if they did to every class, especially uber overpowered ones, but no.
heres a video, its a fucking priest, you know a healer that should stay back and heal and not freaking out DPS other classes by a mile. Not only can they heal themselves to full health in no time, they can freaking kill you with a single combo, and since they are ranged you cant jump around them like a fuckturd hoping to dodge an attack.
Fuck, this game becomes more and more frustrating, its like funcom is trying to piss off every custom who wants to enjoy the game.

Well after reading the last pages it seems this game has potention but has at this moment alot and I mean alot of problems , isnt it bugs then its tweaking the game .
Sofar i`m still waiting for a responce email from FunCom when I mailed them with a question , when I mailed the same question to the company that distribute the game in holland I was getting a reply however they also told me that it should have I should have asked FunCom this question (yaah right no shit sherlock I thought).
Anyway me and my wife desided to NOT buy AOC but go back to wow instead , seems at this moment the better choice untill either the new expansion comes or Warhammer online or The Chronicles of Spellborn , Time will tell.
Yes, the game has immense potential, but so far bugs and just some stupidly retarded game designs have thwarted any fun i had playing it. If you play on a PVE server its actually not that bad since you wont be spawn ganked, but then where is fun in killing monsters all day long and you wont see the bad PVP aspect of the game (stupid monkey jumpers, uber overpowered classes, and then uber underpowered classes), but what you will see are broken skills, quests, zones, not working stats, every body looks pretty much the same, items are worthless (at level 20 i was finding items that had the same exact stats as i did at the very begging of the game). And the biggest immersion killer - instances, if you are unlucky, you will get into an instance that looks desolated, then wtf are you paying 15 bux a month to play with yourself.

Today's extremely demanding MMO players are accustomed to a very high standard of gameplay and polish that seems just out of reach for Funcom's new title
that's ridiculous. since when are mmo players extremely demanding when it comes to very high standards of gameplay and polish? there was no mmo ever that was released without problems.
this one is really the best though:

5. The Game Is Bad
Combat system is bad, world is bad, interface is bad, everything is bad.
now this part I found pathetic. In his first blog he says the following..
Quote:
Combat system is bad, world is bad, interface is bad, everything is bad. This game was built around graphics and an opportunistic release in a lull period for World of Warcraft. Sales were made and then lost as gamers realized it truly was just a bunch of hype.
..and after the article he wrote (the one at the top) he replies to a guy (in the comment section) with the following:
Quote:
I realized after looking up more information that my original conclusions were unfounded. After all, I have not actually played the game myself.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
Haha what an idiot, but no, the game is bad as of right now. Canceled my account until they fix it a bit more. If you are planning on trying the game, dont go on official forums though, since you will leave with a feeling that the game blows, pretty much every post is negative. I just read how the first siege went and it sounds horrible, the dude with a e8400, 4 gigs of DDR3, 2 x 8800 gtx was saying that he had horrible fps <10 when there were about 30 people. Of course siege was also full of bugs. The economy is already ruined, gold farmers are plenty, and in game prices on useful items are a bit ridiculous (200 g for a horse and i think like 10 g for an extra bag), and its kind of hard to make gold.
Sig too big. -Nothing is too big for Fedor. Expect a nasty armbar.
LvL30 DT and i only have 10 silver coins (i sell a lot to the vendor) how the fck i supposed to get 3 golds coins for the most simple horse!??!
is it like 100 silver = 1 gold or 1000 silver = 1 gold...lol gonna cancel my account tomorrow i think and wait a month or two...really like this game but now pay 12+/- euro for bugs...fck it
