Glottis wrote: | I think they'll have to censor it after all the spore dick videos on youtube. | Nah, they already ahve the "report this creature" feature enabled, so the game will be free of penis-lovers. A few might pop up here and there, but they will be reported and taken down. Problem solved. sueil wrote: | zmed wrote: | Well, Just got the mail...22nd?! There is no reasonable excuse for such a retarded action...not even a server upgrade...they fucked up seriously.

Special attack is the cumshot
I think it's obvious the direction this game is heading to, 'best and biggest penis' awards, 'best looking anally connected inter-symbiotic species' awards, Freud would like some of these.

Oh man...what a relief!
The mail I just got wrote: | Thank you for ordering on Electronic Arts BV. The date when the product that you Pre-Ordered will be released has been changed.
The product listed below will now be available on 17 June 2008 |
That's for EU players, no idea about the US release.

Its to my understanding the way spore works is its a single player game but you can constantly get other peoples worlds for your universe. So whats stopping these offensive creatures from going onto your game's universe and simply staying there? Even if EA deletes them from their server wouldn't the creature still be part of your saved game?

If it downloads anything you find offensive, you can simply delete or block it and it won't appear in your game.

Some people do not want to be exposed to it in the first place, even if it can be removed.

But even if you have to hand pick every creature, you're still getting exposed to it, a report system and/or a filter is there so you DON'T get exposed to it, not so that you do get exposed to it and then can choose to remove it. | With such a powerful tool it's impossible to filter creatures automatically. Human presence is necessary. Since they obviously can't employ people only for the sake of filtering out stuff, they leave it to the players.

There might be communitys you can subscribe to and then they do the filtering for you. That is how I would solve it.

But what if a large group of people decide to start flagging perfectly innocent creatures?
Giving the power to gamers never seems to work out much like a vote kick command in a FPS it ends up being abused to get rid of the better players. Or in this case just to be a ass.
I personally don't mind any creature that will be created and will welcome them all... but I do feel sorry for the people who have to see it first and then have to report it and block it from their computer... this game certainly isn't going to be kid friendly because of this as there will be a endless onslaught of those types of creatures.

They'll have to censor it I'm already seeing angry moms protesting and a huge scandal ahead. Creatures looking like genitals, creatures having sex with each other, swastikas, very human like creature with genitals.
There is just no fucking way that this will slip by unnoticed.

Reports are monitored by staff, though it may be a problem with where the line goes, also what if this particular creature is shaped in such a way that it cannot be seen from the website if it is inappropiate or not?

And that's not even the biggest problem, the fundamentalist christians will wreak havoc because the game will show their kids the evolution theory first hand.

It's intelligent design at work here, and even many fundamentalist Christians accept 'evolution' exists. They won't find problems with this game I'm sure... But what I want to know is what the games creators think of all these abominations. I find them hilarious, but there is a darkside to it in misrepresenting what the game actually is.
