All playing on a crappy tv or something? The gfx are one of the best ive ever seen in a game, good lichting effects, and the overall looks very realistic. (texture detail, bump-maps)
The bad thing about the game is the crappy controls, but i readed about that in the early previews, so i was prepered. I'm at chapter 3 now and i go play further... i like it (8 so far for me).
I should say definitely no waste of my vetbatim. ^^

Haha I can't believ people are tearing the game apart in here just because they obviously suck at it. Buggy driving mission my ass, you're just not good enough, don't blame the game for that. Sure dying alot is frustrating, so their fault may be to not have included an Easy and/or Very Easy setting. It's not always the game that sucks, sometimes it's YOU!

So you are saying thats it perfectly normal for the car to completly stop after the second jump, or for the car to fly up and start spinning after i hit one of those wooden roadblocks after the second jump, or to get stuck in between two cracks? I guess that was all part of their design, good to know. And i already said i dont know where to turn at the mall, i did not say some bug is stopping me from completing that mission, bugs are just annoying but in no way game breaking.

is it me or is the control for this game is really retarded? In First person view it seem like i'm floating in the air while in third person it's really stiff. You can't even do a full circle in third person which I prefer to play in. I was really looking forward to play this game but the control is a really big let down for me.

for people who are on the fence with this one, I think it would be wise to rent it or get the pc iso whenever that happens. At least you can mount an iso and not have to worry abt wasting disks.

Wait, what the heck. I just watched this to help me beat the mission http://www.ps3jka.sk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=984:alone-in-the-dark-walkthrough-chapter-7-driving&catid=58:adventury
And i was doing exactly the same thing each time, but when i jump out of the window, there are no textures or anything, and i just keep falling off some cliff and the mission restarts. I tried that segment many times, and its the same thing each time, falling off a cliff with textures appearing. Well there you go Fabs, can i blame the game now, or do i still suck.

Come on, do you really believe that? i try'd for numerous times to open a door and i couldnt get it open because of he shitty controls, everytime i try to hit the door it hits the wall if i wanna move my character so i can bash the door open with for example a fire extinghuiser i cant cause i cant move my character properly because of the crap controls i am trying for 5mins just to open a fucking door. Spoiler: | The chapter where you rapple down and you get on the side of the building walking on the edge i literally walked on air cause i want to see what happnd if i walk off the edge, the part with the car where it is like impossible to break a window. | I cursed every few minutes .. in my opinion this game failed miserable.

No it's not normal at all to suck so much at a game. You didn't know that driving into the giant cracks in the road is bad? Well takes a hint at times I guess You have to drive up the escalator, I don't think YOUR version of the game will have bugs no other version has, so you prolly drove the wrong way, that's why the map and textures disappear.
jmdeking, the game has no giant control flaws like you make it sound. Yes, being clumsy will definitely make it harder to play a game like this. But seriously, most games must have broken controls in your eyes. Doesn't mean every motion and turn is supposed to be silky-smooth, because not everything is supposed to be.
5mins to open a doors, lmao. Thank god real life doors are idiot proof or you'd be stuck in whatever room you are in right now

Dude there is only one way to drive up, watch the video, its EXACTLY how i did it. I'll try to make a video if i can find my shitty camera. And whats with the name calling, i didnt insult you, im telling you exactly what happened when I was playing it, why would i bs something like that.
I didnt drive into the crack, i was driving when the crack appeared thus i got stuck in it, no way to avoid it since it appeared right when i was passing by.

Dude, this is NOT an easy game, it is actually a CHALLENGE. You can't expect to pass everything during your first try. There are many games where that would be the case, that's because these games are generally too easy, because they try to appeal to a large audience.
Btw, what name calling are you referring to? I will look at the video tho and try to compare it to my run as best I can remember it. I really don't think it's possible that you can have a broken game (since consoles are pretty much identical as are the games).

You can make out me going up the stairs and through the window, and then falling into the cliff. It happens EVERY time i get there, i tried comming dead center, from left, from right, and its the same thing every time.

Either your disc is damaged or the cached files are somehow corrupted. Those are the only two things I can think of, definitely not your driving.

Yeah could be either of those, but i wont reburn, will wait for the pc version. I also have horrible texture pop ups, like when you are falling out of the window and hang onto the statue, the building and statue appear few seconds later, so it looks like you are holding on air. Or that damn bus in the driving mission, appears out of nowhere everytime. I burned it like any other game with 1x on verbatim.

Quote: | Yet in spite of all this, Alone in the Dark is ultimately likeable, even lovable. If you go back and read those opening paragraphs again, there's a game there that every gamer would want. Inventive, flexible, considered. It's stunning to look at it in places, too, and it's capable of classic gaming moments: quieter than the Would You Kindlies and This Was A Triumphs, but just as special. And in Edward Carnby's practical survivor, Eden has a tool players will enjoy sharpening. The problem is that every time you get excited about Alone in the Dark, it shuts you down. At times it's akin to Atari's Boiling Point: Road To Hell of three years ago; throw any score on the ten-point scale and it will stick to something, but there's so much friction on the lower end that it's often impossible to pull away and remember when you brushed past genius. You want to love it, but it just keeps letting you down, and in the end that's the impression that sticks to the wall and stays there.

When I tried the same jump I went through the window but then got grounded on the window ledge. I was stuck there unable to move as non of the wheels touched the floor. I had to turn my xbox off then as I was afraid I might launch my controller out the window. The random spinning in the air when hitting those wooden road blocks are annoying

The game sounds broken.
When game mechanics are in the way of game flow it´s just stupid. That is not to make a game hard in the right way.
The game world/setting itself seems nice though.

I like how the game looks in the videos. But I guess videos can't really demonstrate control flaws.
