i think the general lack of titles (quantity) means that pc gamers are generally less fussy about games, since we get lots of them.

Yup, same goes for those who purchased the game, especially on official forums. They praise total crap just because they paid 50 bucks for it. Very Happy

7/10 for me

camera, controls are just awful!
Claiming that these factors bear no valid points of criticism in this game and referring to ppls' inability to wield a controller (ain't _that complicated now is it..) is just plain stupid.

atmosphere is good but not great, nowhere near as oppressive/nightmarish as in the silent hill series for example.

gameplay.. has its ups and downs. Take melee combat for example: While the idea of making it more responsive than mere button-mashing is a nice approach, the implementation just doesn't feel as intuitional as it was probably supposed to be.

same applies for the graphics: While some things just look outdated (non-volumetric fires should be a thing of the past, no?), there are other passages (when that whole building collapses with you inside) that are absolutly breathtaking!

all in all it's a bumpy ride.. if you're not into games such as this one you'll probably hate it for the sluggish controls/camera. However if you like games like Silent Hill it's definitly worth a look (or should i say verb?) Smile

i noticed ppl tend to bitch more in console section about how bad certain games are

Assassins Creed for example was hated in console section and praised in pc section even with them black bars Laughing

hmm interesting, maybe it's coz on console all u need to do is to burn the game and play it, where on pc u goin through all this trouble of getting game to run properly or run at all and at the end u just say i luv this game even tho it's nothing special Wink

p.s. i liked Assassins Creed btw
replaying it on pc now altho it is half ass port Razz

cheers pips

I think nforce users are not ur typical 360 owners..

For the record i thought creed was average on both pc and console.

PS "all this trouble of getting the game to run properly"

eh ????

Alright I just played Alone in The Dark and LOL its not that bad. Its not a great game either. Theres some really boring and somewhat platforming in this game. The controls do take a little bit of getting used to. And it does feel like youre playing with the 4 keyboard arrow keys but besides that its not all bad. Its sort of like resident evil meets pitfall 3d for PlayStation lol. Graphics are average. Not great but not terrible either.

So my verdict on this game is: Its an interesting but boring game. Its worth a verbatim.

OMFG this game just got hot! You can skip sequences. If youre bored or having trouble with whatever part youre upto, just pause the game and skip it Laughing Laughing

Atmosphere and graphics are quite nice in the later levels.

How many chapters are there in the game and how much gameplay time do you reckon?

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Yea I noticed the last part of chapter 8 is locked. But is that the last chapter? I only completed chapter 1 and skipped the rest. Played a little bit of chapter 5 and then chapter 7 and beginning of chapter 8.

you know the platform under the bar which you move with the switch? try to lift it from the right side with your forklift (the bar has to be inside). get out the forklift and activate the switch, so the platform won't fall to the ground. Now you can drive up the plattform with your forklift Smile

Figured it out with a help of a friend, didnt think of lifting the platform.

Anyway, nice game, 7.5/10 for me, has some really annoying moments, but overall its an ok game.

oh dear, if Id devloped this I'd forget about it very quickly. This is the most awkward and clumsy game I have played for a long time. I f you enjoy getting caught up on clunky game design and poorly implamented contol systems, then this is definately for you, otherwise steer clear.

Do yourself a favour and pick up Call of Cthulhu for a fiver Smile

I played the game a bit yesterday and I must say the beginning is awful imo. You are in a building which is suddenly collapsing and exploding because of some kind of demonic attack. You have no idea what building this is, why you are here, who you are or what's going on. You walk around in this chaos and save the lives of some strangers just to see them getting killed a few seconds later again and again.

It was pretty demotivating and confusing. How could they start the game this way? What were they thinking? This beginning had no atmosphere and led to a pretty bad first impression for me. They should have started the game with a proper introduction and build up the tension slowly instead of throwing you right into this unexplained chaotic mess. (Oh and btw why does Carnby look so ugly?)

Also some puzzles involving physics seem tacked on and completely out of place. The puzzle where you have to get the fire extinguisher to the higher floor comes to mind. Boy was that unbelievable! Jump down, drop the extinguisher on a board then climb up again and jump forward to grab a rope that pulls the board with the extinguisher upwards. Come on! Rolling Eyes That would be fine in Super Mario or Zelda but not in a game that's supposed to be a serious, pseudo-realistic horror game set in present-day New York.

Another thing that's a small annoyance for me is the very low volume of the game. I have my 360 connected to my PC stereo speakers (because I'm playing on my PC monitor) and the volume is very low even when I turn it all the way up. Much lower than other games. The fan of my 360 is almost as loud as the dialogs.

Anyway I guess the game isn't really bad, though. Just very unpolished. I think I will play it one day. There's probably a decent game hidden inside but I expected more.

This game has grown on me. At first I thought it was really crap but once you get out of the main building and into the park it gets a bit better. The 3rd person view is only useful for running around. All other times I use 1st person view. Some of the puzzles are good fun trying to figure out.

At the beginning its just running around and trying to escape the hazards of the building. Later on your using your inventory more to solve puzzles.

8.5/10 for me so far
