|
 |
Quote: | The Los Angeles Times reports that "Spider-Man" franchise producer Laura Ziskin said the fourth installment is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters in May 2011.
Already scheduled for the month of May that year are Marvel's own The First Avenger: Captain America on the 6th and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.
Ziskin added that the screenplay is not finished yet, but that she and Sony Pictures were hopeful Spider-Man 4 could be ready in three years' time.
Neither star Tobey Maguire nor director Sam Raimi is yet committed to work on the next installment, but Sony has paid Marvel to renew its rights. |

yeah just read that today... of all the comic book movies that im aware of, i think this one i care about the absolute least, especially given how horrible the third film was.... though it was obvious theyd make a 4th one given how much money these make.
loved how crappy they made venom in the third film. cant wait to see how horribly they screw up carnage in this one, if hes one of the characters...
but hey... who knows... maybe the film will be good, if they get rid of raimi...

I love how everyone hates Raimi now even though he did a great job with the first two. I don't put all the blame on him for SM3 (even though I'm one of the ones who liked it). You also gotta think about the producers who forced too much shit into 3.

I don't think forced, but convinced:
Quote: | Originally, director Sam Raimi vehemently opposed having Venom as a villain in the film, claiming he hated Venom's "lack of humanity," but Marvel producer Avi Arad convinced him to include the character, explaining that Venom had a strong worldwide following. Raimi eventually came to appreciate the character, based on writer Alvin Sargent's script and actor Topher Grace's performance. However, to keep Venom's appearance a secret, he claimed during the film's casting and production that he hated the character, and had no intention of including the character in this film or any subsequent sequels. To make amends, he then treated the audience at the 22 July 2006 San Diego Comic-Con to the first public images of Venom in the film, albeit with unfinished special effects. |
And more is left to coincidence:
Quote: | John Dykstra, who won an Oscar for his work as visual effects supervisor on Spider-Man 2 (2004), had declined to work on the third film. Instead, Dykstra chose to work on Hot Wheels. Scott Stokdyk took over as visual effects supervisor. |
Quote: | According to Grant Curtis, in early production the Vulture was originally going to be in the movie, and Ben Kingsley was involved in negotiations to play him before the character's story line was replaced by Venom. |
So in the end I agree with chiv, first one wasn't bad. But then it went extremely downhill. And yes, I blame Sam Raimi, particularly for SM3

i dont understand venoms inclusion in s3... the how, not the why... venom is an awesome character that should get a standalone film, to say nothing of being the main foe or in equal screentime with carnage if hes gonna be in a spiderman film.... NOT be the lesser half of a duo. they turned him into an annoying wuss.
that guy was right when he said venom has a massive worldwide following, hes one of the coolest characters marvel has created... so KNOWING all this, i dont understand why they went in the direction that they did...
they should shelve venom, wait till del toro is finished with the hobbit films, then ask him if he wants to take a shot at a venom vs carnage movie.. that'd be so goddamn sweet.

Won't put much faith in a 4th movie after the crap they did to sm3. The first movie was the best.

Raimi has been doing Xena-episodes, really - he likes money, and I don't blame him.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Terrible just terrible, wish Raimi could take his finger out of his ass and get to work properly on horror again.

Well would love to see him handle a new Evil Dead, but could be nice to see him actually make a savage, hell gruesome horror flick.

True - but I'd rather wait and see how it turns out before I ditch it. Looking forward to the remake of Hellraiser too btw.

Of course, will certainly leech it and see it. Yes Hellraiser will certainly be interesting but all-in-all whats up with all those damn remakes.
EDIT: Arr crap, just saw who wrote the screenplay to the upcoming hellraiser:

yeah ya read me wrong, i was talking about guillermo del toro for directing a venom film the work he did on pans, not to mention hellboy and blade, were amazing... he loves creating dark, fantastical films, and he totally understands the comicbook medium, and knows how to best bring the characters over into live action films.

Heh. A venom movie would be an emo movie.
Carnage movie would have to be rated r.
We're all of age here so an r rated movie won't scare us But it'll scare the markets ANd it wont be made
