|
 |
| Quote: | Speaking at Sony's developer DevStation conference in London last week, Sony Europe president David Reeves admitted that there was a global piracy issue on PSP, but admitted that it was helping the machine to sell.
"There is a piracy problem on PSP," the UK PlayStation boss commented. "We know about it, we certainly know how it's done. It sometimes fuels the growth of hardware sales, but on balance we are not happy about it."
Clampdown
Reeves added that Sony is soon to unveil a new clampdown on piracy, which some took to refer to today's slightly disappointing Firmware 4.00 update.
With the opinion of many being that piracy is killing the PSP's development as a gaming format, an announcement of Sony's plans in this department can't come soon enough. |

well duh everyone knows that, i spose its about time sony realised it as well... only reason i bought a psp was because i knew games could be pirated on it.
and its idiotic to asy that piracy is killing the psp... its sonys refusal to bring out worthwhile updates that push it as a multimedia device, and also their insane overpricing of games... rather than accepting that its partly their own fault, they just look for others to blame.

As did I... no way I'd pay their prices. And the over pricing of movies for it isn't much better.

Do you still believe in Gran Turismo mobile??
It has already been considered vaporware by some sites. Purely propaganda to sell PSP´s.
We must not forget that the game was announced before the release of the psp.

Gran Turismo for Boys will most likely become a service within Gran Turismo 5, and for the PSP I don't think we'll be able to make this year.

gt mobile was bullsh*t... but i think the number of people who were looking forward too it, probably means that they will eventually plan to make one some day, but yeah it was bs, never actually in development.

That piracy can sometimes improve a game console, or even the game sales is a proven thing, when it became known that you could hack a psp using lumines the game was completely sold out everywhere in a single day

As chiv said. Wouldn't surprise me though if Sony knew about it all along. Not as if they haven't had past experience of it before with the PSX and PS2 yet with both the consoles still making them lots of $$$.

Were they though? Other than the Wii what other consoles have actually sold at a profit? We all know that most console makers sell at a loss to make it up in software. You can't make up a loss in volume.

I hears there is a new PSP coming out next month with a better screen. But who knows what firmware it will have and if it will be cracked soon...
