Anyway, here's a reminder:

http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44577

That explains Tony Stark in Hulk and other comic book movies appearing. Hollywood is preparing a grand finale with all the characters. Or should I say the beginning of a new trilogy+? Smile

Aliens 4 is the only good enough example so far imo, and that still wasn't "great".

We all more or less know that this is just milking the concept for more money..

Alien 4 should be considered a movie apart. It may be the weakest but it's still good and dark sci-fi thanks to cast and Jeunet direction.

mmmm... well... as an alien film it sucked... as a film on its own id say the first half was excellent... the third quarter was decent, the final quarter was horrible...

either way, the discussion was about 4th films in a franchise, and even you have to admit in that regard, alien resurrection isnt a great example of an excellent 4th entry into a franchise... yeah its an ok example when compared to most other 4ths which are really poor, but dont you think that rambo 4 and die hard 4 were much better examples?

Haha, guys, i gotta admit - i haven't seen the latest Rambo! So it might be the better example.

But yeah i do like Jeunet (City of Lost Children ffs).

And Die Hard 4.. Stylish action doesn't make a movie great. It wasn't bad, but i still think it was a thin movie, story-wise.

Haha, no ofcourse not - but all i'm saying is that the first Die Hard was way, way better than the fourth. The fourth was just.. plain.

calling star wars 'episode 4' doesnt make it the 4th film... its still the original as far as im concerned... the 4th film in the franchise is episode 1, and if you wanna say thats a great film... hey.. you go right ahead Very Happy

so, ep1 "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" is actually episode 4 whereas darth vader doesn't even exist to this point but he did in ep1/4/... i'm confused right now Razz

there are 6 ep's of sw, so there can only be one ep1/ep4. like it or not, but that's a fact. yr o'production doesn't matter Wink

...and yes, i think "Star Wars IV: A New Hope" was a great 4th in a row of a series Smile

how come famguy ep-mess-up of s06 comes to my mind?

The arguments in world news section notwithstanding, that is a most bizzarre bit of reasoning. The fourth in a series refers to the fourth movie in a franchise and not the fourth movie in the story line. The question was whether a movie can maintain its quality/appeal after fans have seen three earlier movies in the franchise. It doesn't even have to be a contiguous tale like for e.g. Rambo or Die Hard series where each story pretty much stands on its own.

Okay here's a question for you guys who use the story-line logic. Which movie is the fourth in the 'Planet of the Apes' series? Very Happy Good luck.

according to the story it has to be this one

Lol! Someone actually tried to answer that one. Apologies for not replying earlier but I totally missed this one. The fourth in this series is ofcourse 'The Battle ..' by date of release. But the fourth movie in the story line is 'The Planet of the Apes' since according to me the fifth (or in any case the last) in the story was 'Beneath the Planet of the Apes' so the movie preceding it would be the fourth.

I'm sure some people will disagree but that happens often with these kinds of stories and we can argue for a very long time but it doesn't change the fact that each story can be told from more than one point of view. Very Happy

I love how everyone hates Raimi now even though he did a great job with the first two. I don't put all the blame on him for SM3 (even though I'm one of the ones who liked it). You also gotta think about the producers who forced too much shit into 3.

The only thing that pisses me off in Spider-man 3 is Tobey Maguire, such a crap performance. Don't like him one bit.

it's a shit trailer lol. his parents will end up spies for shield. so they aren't dead. he's gonna fight some big baddie. find out his parents are still alive. go through drama. and to be continued. it feels and looks like a twilight movie. Sad Directed by marc web who did 500 days of summer. so it could be awesome, but it could also suck major amounts of dick!

Wish it was like a sick Donnie Darko style twisted midfucking movie. Only Peter would wake up in the last scene in some cage as a sick mutant 5-legged freak being experimentd on.
Now THAT would be a gritty reboot.
