I have SP1 installed, not the one released thru windows update but the one leaked. Weird. I usually disable the enforcement for signed drivers during the boot sequence, maybe retry installing it while doing so, either ways I have no problem with Rivatuner 2.09. Smile

Press F8 during the boot sequence (I am dualbooting and I do so at the OS selection screen) and disable this from there.

I just had the exact same thing happen to me while installing Vista w/ SP1 June 2008, 64-Bit version. It was hanging on the blue/green colored screen with just the mouse cursor and no windows. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and it finally went, even though my hard drive or DVD drive wasn't moving at all in that time. Looks like it's going now, though.

Riva tuner works fine as they have signed drivers for Vista X64. Peergurdian doesn't tho and you have to F8 boot (not a big deal).. Core temp works fine and ATI tool kinda works (good enuff for stress testing the cards anyway)

I have not had anything just not work. I have not had any issues with stability (even when overclocking) Been using Vista X64 since RTM release last year.

There is a tool that will automatically enter F8 mode on every boot. Ready Driver Plus, if you are too lazy to press one key and set it..

i work at tech support and 9 out of 10 ppl asking me to install Xp after they getting prebuild pc's/laptop's with vista already installed, why is that i wonder?

Because all the OEM's preinstall shit loads of crap with their Vista installs. Every one I have seen I have done a clean reinstall of Vista using their Key and it runs like 3 million times better than it did the day they got it..

Its the same with XP too and has been for many many years

That is such a lame argument.

Yeah, dunno why they don't ask for donations from users for having their damn driver signed, lol.

I tried this some weeks ago -after having installed sp1- and it fucked up my boot, dunno if it is because of the dual boot or because of the vista loader crack, anyway I would try it with caution. Smile

I have a problem (didnt want to create a new thread so will use this one as it has to do with vista installation).
I have Windows Vista 64 Sp1 august integrated by bien. When im trying to install it it gives me this error "Windows cannot install required files, the file may be corrupt or missing, make sure all files required for install are avaialable and restart. Error Code: 0x80070017", what could the problem be? Is my system incompatible with 64 version or something (tried 32 before and it worked fine). The system is asus p5k-e, e6850, and kingston memory.
Thanks.

You have a 64 bit cpu installed? Is your cd/dvd scratched? If you do have a 64 bit cpu, i'd reburn your install disc at a lower speed and try the install again.

Yeah, i dont think its my drive because it never gave me any problems (pioneer 116d and memorex media) but i'll reburn it just incase.
Googled around and some people also had the same problem, but no one has answers what could be wrong.
Edit: Cyberia could be right http://www.x-pose.org/blog/50 , will try to burn at 1x and see if that works.
Edit: Cyberia was absolutly right, i reburned it with 1x and now im using Vista 64, thanks!
Edit: First impressions are pretty good. I tried cod 4 and crysis with the same settings as i had in xp and it ran exactly the same, at least i didnt notice any significant difference. Also for the first time ever, windows automatically found a driver for something. I couldnt even manually find a driver for my sound card, but vista some how found it, im impressed.

I used to have trouble with an xp dvd install disc i would use when reformatting friend's computers. It was pretty finicky. I could use it 2-3 times, then the disc would give errors like you're describing..burn another copy at low speed (and by that i mean 4x dvd) and it would work again for a while. Seems like xp installation didn't like the slightest scratch or handling of the dvdr. Glad you solved it though!

Hey Mort got a question about spyware and antivirus. What is a good antivirus and antispyware for 64? I used spyware doctor and nod32 before and they worked just fine, would they be working fine on x64, or do i need to get 64 compatible versions? I also heard x64 had lesser spyware and virus shit written for it, so do i need special spyware and antiviruses to combat it, or will i be fine with my old stuff?
Thanks.
