"All the colors"? You must admit that the paladin on the right is way more colorful than the barbarian, just watch the gold/white/violet armor as compared to grey/beige/dark green. And in all honesty that screenshot everyone quotes is really not that great, plus really zoomed in.

For the most part you will play pretty far out to get a better look over the battlefield, most of the other screenshots look 500% better.

Uh, it's not just about the colors, it's about the *blocky* characters( and enviroment details ) and oversized weapons/armor. The original Diablo games do not have this, but Warcraft 3 and WoW does( also Heroes of M&M 5 for those that have tried it ), and it looks like both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 will have it too.

*sigh*

It ain't easy to make good looking GFX in 3D. Fallout and Diablo are classic examples of this. This gritty 'n crisp graphical direction is very hard to duplicate with 3D polygons. I miss isometric 2D Sad

First thing I thought when I went to the official page is - "This looks exactly like WoW".
Fucking sad really - 8 years on the original and they took the pussy way out instead of giving it some new direction and freshness with the visuals - all so they could have all the kiddies buy it Sad

I don't understand the logic. Apparently the WoW graphics and style suck, but its one of the most popular games of all time.

I say give me more games with the kind of effort and polish that WoW has please.

What!? WoW style sucks? Yeah right. Every time I start it (and mind you, I play on private servers), I'm amazed at the details level and overall polish. It's amazing. Sure, graphics could be better, it's a very old game, but the style is impeccable.

Phluxed was being sarcastic. WoW style and art consistency is nothing but amazing.

I was kinda afraid this change would happen, casue of the old team that made D1-2 gone.
The colour aspect is easy to change, the should just make that avaible as an option.
Though the models is a bit harder... the Cain and barbarian dialogue scene looked like something straight out of Warcraft.

I like the gameplay changes they have made though!

Although the grain is a bit to much, I still think it looks far more diabloesque, without sacrificing the new nice graphics. Especially the second pic.

Good for you!

Anyway I must agree diablofans contribution looks alot more like a potential 3rd diablo.

Yeah, the Diablofans edition does make it a fair bit better, although there's a bit much grain as mentioned. Still not happy about the blocky design on characters & terrain details though.

I went to fire up Diablo II again and my Cinematics disc is bad. So I registered my cd keys on Blizzard's site so that I can download my registered games at anytime. Very nice service as now I can download Diablo II and LoD at any time. The only problem.......it takes like 18 hours!!! Sad I am dying to play Diablo II again but it's taking forever for 1.5GB. I have 6mb downloads and it's crawling. Hopefully they will fix this. At least it gives me time to choose my character, either Assassin or Paladin.

So, still no idea when Diablo III will be released?

Thanks,

MD

Care to explain why?

The grain is obviously over done, but it's merely a photoshop attempt at accentuating the kind of ambience any new Diablo should be gunning for. Clearly Blizzard disagree as even Starcraft 2 has been afflicted with the WoW bug. It's not just the colours, brightness/saturation or modelling but various other tid-bits in the games which might be nice for WoW fans but are annoying to those of us who grew up playing the originals and valued the artistic ambience present at that time.

Obviously it's not going to kill the game - but hopefully they tweak Diablo III because (more than Starcraft) it has that WoW'ishness that doesn't fit the horror theme.
