That's true. My alcoholic parents raised me well enough... Laughing. And now I drink a lot. Neutral It's not good. THey said it's bad for you. They said this and they said that. And poof... Very Happy Other things led me to drink but knowing how it's not THAT bad when you're a kid. It really doesn't phase you... as much as it should. Very Happy I know i should stop. But i got probs Very Happy So right now... it's ok Very Happy Cause my dad did it and he's 50 something.

If I don't grow up. I'll be losing my liver by the age of 30. Maybe even sooner.
And losing my life a bit after that.

So I got at most 4 years to grow up. Razz Not gonna happen. Laughing

I figure having kids will get me to quit drinking so much. That's probably not all that far off (2-3 years maybe). In the meantime, fuck why even try? Razz

Exactly. Very Happy Fuck. Responsibility hits you like a diaper. Don't have a job, smell the shit of a 2 month old, you'll be workin 2 jobs. Very Happy Do heroin, you'll quit. Drink yourself to sleep cause of a stressful job? No worries you'll just beat your wife until she stops yelling at you. Hahaha.

Seriously. Kids change people. At least I'd like to think so.

I don't know. I think it would be the shits if that was your plan. What if you didn't change. Maybe the excitment over having a new baby would for a while kinda replace drinking but when the stress of raising a family hit I think you would start drinking again. How many alcoholic families do we all know. Lots. I think it is naive to think that we are somehow better than that.

I think it is one or the other. If you want to drink then don't have them. It is a choice and a good one depending on how you are.

From my experience from what I have seen, people who drink and do drugs while having kids tend to be lazy parents. They become too relaxed and don't parent. Let their kids get away with too much. How can you bond with them when you mind is in la-la land.

You sound like an abused wife, you know the type where they have children cause they believe all the violence will stop.

Having kids will not stop you drinking so much, if that were the case there would be no alcoholic parents etc.. What you are saying is entirely contrary to what generally happens.

I sound like an abused wife eh? Rolling Eyes

1) I'm not an alcoholic. You seem to think everyone has a problem with alcohol, which indeed warrants another Rolling Eyes

2) Most people who have any interest in actually having kids and raising them WILL make sacrifices and adjust their lives accordingly. How much time do you think I'll have to sit around and drink beer/play xbox given having to go to work, deal with school activities/PTA shit/homework, going to sports/outdoor activities, etc etc etc. Kids are hard work and occupy a lot of time.

Your attitude is not surprising given you probably see a never ending stream of low life losers in your job. So please, quit the internet psychology if you don't mind.

I once got so drunk I forced a girl into sex. I was also picked up by the police a few times for being so drunk in public I was blacked out. I also was taken in on 3 DWI's when I was 22. Thats when I knew I was an alchoholic. Thats when I started to cut back my drinking hard stuff and beer to just 5-6 40 oz's a day.

Remember you don't have to be an alcoholic to destroy your liver.
Just 8 cans of normal lager twice a week will do damage.

8 cans in one day, twice a week is heavy drinking imo.

I wouldnt call that heavy drinking. I mean its not even enough to get drunk.

If it is more then 5 you have damage. You don't have to get drunk to kill your liver over a period of time.

1.) Generally those who need to ask about their drinking signals potential problems. I wouldn't say everyone has problems, more that most wouldn't know if they did.

2.) That is not what I meant, and I must say I don't think I made the statement as I intended. The catalyst for responsible behaviour will never be having children. Someone is either responsible enough to make the required changes or they are not, it has nothing to do with fucking someone and getting them pregnant. I disagree with the statement as I read it (which could be me taking the statement out of context.) Having children doesn't change people, it's that simple like it or not, and as I said previously you either are responsible enough or you are not.

I do not take offense to what you say, rather I respect someone who is willing to share their differences. I do take some offense to the "low life's" I work with commnet. Mostly because it's usually incorrect. Talking to someone if you need help does not make you a low life, it's a sign of strength. It means you recognize there are issue's and that they are significant enough to be dealt with. I don't believe what I do is internet psychology, I made a statement, one of undeniable fact, especially for men. Getting someone pregnant does not change a man, there is no chemical or biological change that happens. My example of the abused wife was over the top. But it is similar in that they have this mislead belief that having children will solve their problems.
