....designed cases to have USB ports on top of the case instead of the front ? Fuck , i love my CM690 to death EXCEPT for that because it's a fucking pain in the ass. My case is in my desk and i basically have to pull it out each time i have to use my USB key and that's 4-5 times a week. Sad

I guess i will have to buy one of those because i just can't stand it anymore :

And yeah i know this post is pretty much pointless but that's what the useless void is for isn't it ? Very Happy That plus i had to rant because fuck i see no advantage of having USB ports on top instead of in fromt in about any situation. Just look like bad deisgn to me.

why i wonder?? if u have such a huge case it must be on the floor and not on the table
besides u can always get front usb panel if one has issues with top placement

my case is on the lower shelf of a desk, but yeah I'm not even sure if a mid tower would fit in there Razz

my usb ports (besides the ones in the back) are at the very bottom, below a bit of a lip. that is also not a good place for them as I have to lay on the floor to stick anything in :/

does ur monitor have 2 ports on the back, take into account this is a self-powered jobby (adc connection only) which takes display, power and usb through one cable.

didnt think so

+1 for macs

anyway macs just generally win... unless you want to play games...

Have to build a few CM 690 cases each week,
It's an okay looking case, nothing too fancy.
But yes the USB on top is lame, just buy a cheap black cardreader Smile
Only thing bothering me is that the sidepanel + fan is terrible, makes an awfull noise.

Better off with the Coolermaster CM590 imo.

I have 3 usb ports on the back and 2 firewire ports. My keyboard has 2 usb ports. as well So 5 usb ports altogether.

They are all easy to get to. I just turn the screen around and plug in.

G4 mac. I am gonna rant too. Smile

Really depends where you got the case. If you got it on the floor is better to have the ports on the top imo. I had no problem with that when I used the Thermaltake xaser 3 ^^

yeah, thats true. Its a no-no for our clients at work. But some cases take up to much space if they stand on a table. Im just using a laptop atm tho.

I have no issue with side fan noise , even under load. Actually , i think that this PC is even quieter than my old Antec Sonata who was supposed to be build for silence. The again airflow in the CM690 is much much better than in the Sonata so the fans may not spin as much. Aside from the USB ports on top and the power and reset button who feel a bit cheap , this is a fantastic case for the price.

And yeah i could have picked the CM590 but a lot of people recommended me to get the 690 instead so that's what i did. The 590 does look nice though but does it have the same space and airflow as the 690 ?

Even if the case was on the table you probably would have to get up from your chair to reach the USB ports since this is one tall case.

That's why i see no point in putting USB ports on top. It's a retarded design and much more hassle than having them in front.
