Mmmh HL² is a cool game (physics are awesome!!!!) but 60€ for a 15h-long game... I'm not stupid, and I don't want to support this "steam activation" fascist fuck !
So: Nice game, but not revolutionary nor a must-have. I hope those hyperhyped guys can handle the deception :°)

I would say the physics system makes it revolutionary in itself. Other games have physics lite. This is the first (that I know of) to have a comprehensive physics engine... so fun...
In terms of first person shooters 15 hours is very long
not only this but that's 15 hours of an excellent single player game. Then, when your done, they have these things called "mods" which extend the life of the title by YEARS. Case in point I brough half-life 1 the day it came out. played it, played its dm, then got tired of it, played some TFC. got tired of that and played CS when it first came out. still playing CS. that's over 7 years or however long hl has been out for what, 50 bucks??
hl2 is worth the money no matter what you say.
And any arguements about steam are just immature. it works great, it's incredibly convenient (when you loose a cd, or forget it when you move, and lose your serial, you will appreciate very much that you can just get steam and download the games you paid for for free........

*sigh* Ive now read all 14+ pages here in this thread. When i bought my 9800XT i too had the coupon offer, so no i didnt actually "buy" the game, but i definately would have anyway. This game is simply amazing, PERIOD. Worth the money! But on the other hand i have to agree with some people that even if you buy the game it feels like you dont actually "own" the game since you have to ask valve "permission" everytime you turn on HL2. Yes i agree that its bullshit to have to go through this.
Anyway as far as the warezed version(s) of the game, i just wanna say what a complete CLUSTER FUCK! OMG try this version with that crack, try this version with that patch, no, no, try this version with this patch but not the original crack you have to use the previous patch with the new repack crack and a .dll file. LMAO ROFL.... one of the most anticipated games of the last few years and its come down to this?! Sheesh.... if you dont, in the next few weeks, see a "real" release from reloaded, or one of the better known release groups, and your just DYING to get this game and just HAVE to dl it then i wish you all the best with that nonsence mentioned above. I'm sure there will be a "proper" proper from one of those guys.

AXPI = EMPORIO ???
Welcome, here's some info about HL2 release from AXPI.
Q1: Where can I download it ?
A1: NOT ON NFORCE
Q2: How big is this version ?
A2: 1601 MB (15MB x 112 RAR files)
Q3: How's possible that its so small against Emporio's version ?
A3: Brute compression was used to pack it (WinRAR, max settings, about 3 hours to pack).
Q4: Is this really working ?
A4: Yes, it is.
Q5: Which language is this release ?
A5: English only.
Q6: How can i start it ?
A6: Create a shortcut of hl2.exe on the desktop using the -steam and -console command, eg. "C:\HL2\hl2.exe" -steam -console
Q7: What was used as a source ?
A7: Steam. All graphics & others extracted, edited and compressed.
Q8: Will AXPI release some another stuff ?
A8: Yeah, they are planning to release HL1: Source and Day of Defeat: Source. Also patch to fix some bugs with general Non-steam version of HL2 will come.
Respect to AXPI for releasing this one...
Please notice that I'm not connected with AXPI in any way, these informations were provided by the group itself exclusive for this site. You can contact them on IRC channel.

First off, the Emporio proper release has had CounterStrike Source totally removed. Halflife 2 itself doesn't have a multiplayer side which is why is comes with CS bundled. Second, if you want to use Steam then you won't be able to use any cracked version of it: it's is part of the copy protection. It verifies your cd key online through Steam.
