I don't think there should be a third one, not after such powerful ending.

Thats insanity. There are too many batman villians to be done well to not have a third one. If anything the ending sets up a third perfectly, where batman is villianized by gotham and has to find it in himself to overcome the hatred of those he must protect.

Yes, that is another way to look at it. If they do go that way, then the title "The Batman" would finally be deserved and serve as an immense payoff the same way "The Dark Knight" is to this one. To those that haven't seen it, there is more to the name than a reference to Batman.

The Dark Knight...7/10
It wasnt bad, but i was expecting more.
I still prefer the old joker movie with Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicoholson (sp?) as the Joker. That still is my fav batman movie

Except its not just a hype train - for instance, syco, without nitpicking, find 1 thing wrong with the movie.

The Dark Night 9/10
One of the best this year!. Ledger is for sure worth an posthumous Oscar for "The Joker".

i feel bad for any actor nominated for the oscar next time the academy awards come round... no matter how great their performances is, they're screwed from the start, ledgers going to get it purely because it'll be 'evil' not to give it to the dead guy... think its kinda sad how all this turned out... bet the producers are rubbing their hands together in joy over all this attention they managed to get out of his death

I think he did a hell of a job as the Joker...Oscar or not.

actually i think he'll be getting the oscar for a great performance AND for dying... lets be fair, how many actors in anything other than dramas tend to get nominations let alone win? the action genre is generally frowned upon too much... not saying he didnt do a great job, im just saying that i really doubt hed have even gotten a nomination, let alone win, if he hadnt have died and his death be used as such a massive hype/advertising tool

IF!...he gets one, and that's not 100% now is it, he will have deserved it for his acting and of course a bit of sentimental "dying", sure. But none the less, his interpretation/acting of the Joker was ace...I think we all can agree on that, or?.

as ive said, his performance was great, im with you on that
BUT, do you truely believe his work in the film WOULD have gotten him an oscan nomination for batman, given that USUALLY these types of films tend to be ignored for... well pretty much EVERY category, aside from the sound/visual effects type sections, had he NOT died?

TDK 9.5/10 , best movie of 2008 sofar
PS
for people who usually listen to movie soundtracks (as in the movie's score), check out the one for The Weather Man , a mix of James Newton Howard with Cliff Martinez and a touch of Jon Brion but it's by Hans Zimmer and it doesnt sound like him

Awake - 7/10 - Entertaining enough... Jessica Alba, yum. Hayden Christensen is nothing other than Anakin to me tho...
Homo Erectus - 1/10 - pure trite, 1 point for Ali Larter looking fine as.

Ledger could get one of the special Oscar awards. I was going to say Lifetime Achievement, but thinking about it, he only had few good movies really. So I'm sure they can find something. Actually I think Aaron Eckhart also deserves a nomination for his part, I think it was brilliant and very tragical. I still think he stole the show. Bale and Ledger are fantastic, but that was already expected. It was just such a pleasant surprise to see Eckhart play the part so well.

Oh for sure, but it wasn't his fault, they crammed too much in there for a 2:30hrs movie. That's why I hope for an unrated director's cut, to have the complete story.

Hey, you guys hear bale was arrested in London for attacking his sister and his mother. I didnt get much of the story cause I caught the end of it on the news, but he's been arrested for it.
Supposedly it happened sometime after the debut of the new batman movie
