I'm soon going to the US and my brother asked me to bring him back an iPhone 3G but he's not sure he'll be able to use it in Belgium.
The iPhone costst about 500€ (= +/- 779US$) and he's not willing to pay this price. Does anyone know
1) how much it'll cost if i buy it in a shop in the US?
2) how good does the GPS work and will it work in Europe (read it used googlemaps, but i don't know how accurate it is and if it is a real GPS and not some AGPS based on the cellphone antenna)?
3) is it possible to unlock it myself (using some downloaded software) or do I have to give it to a professional so it accepts Belgian SIM cards?
1)Not sure they will sell it solo, cuz its all come with a contract when you buy the phone
2)the GPS is base on the network(internet) which only work if u have a data plan with your cell phone provider.
3)You could just go buy the unlock version from some Asian place. They just unlock it with a sim card.
Thanks for the reply. I think i'll just stay with my HTC 3300 then. It does pretty much the same as the iPhone but doesn't have the same nice look.
From my understanding, my HTC has more and better options that this iPhone (especially the gps option was really important for me)
