Hi Guys,
I read on wikipedia that the xbox 360 uses software emulation for the playback of xbox 1 games. Is this true?
It has no mention of the xbox 360 is using some of the xbox 1 hardware to make the backwards compatibility possible.

Yes it uses software emulation. The hardware of the 360 and the xbox are completely different. The Xbox used a nvidia graphics card which could compare to a geforce 2 or 4 card. The 360 uses a custom ATI graphics card.

I don't see why it's not possible to create software emulation for PS2 playback on 40GB PS3's
as like you guys said if xbox 360's can emulate totally different hardware all through software then it should be a piece of cake for the PS3 if sony bothered to listen to their customers.

Sony DID listen to their customers.
They released lower models without the EE chip and PS2 compatibility. If you want PS2 playback, you have to pay for the better model PS3.

which is insane, like the comment about them not wanting senior citizen gamers and basing their whole business model on converting PS2 gamers to PS3. Imbeciles

To be honest, I would do that.
I'd be willing to pay a 50€ premium for getting a slightly larger HDD and backwards compatibility, possibly even more, but in Europe, there are no PS3s with backwards compatibilty anymore.
All models with it were phased out here.
That's just lame...

so what are ding about it? Nothing
There are so many talented people in the scene, couldn't they make an emulator, couldn't the team at pcsx2 make an emulator that can be sold or given for free to sony. Then they can release a firmware update.

Since I don´t own a ps2 it would actually be good if the ps3 would play ps2 games as well. Then it would be like two new consoles in one.
Now I might as well just stick to the xbox360.

its not possible only Sony can do it, besides ps3 isn't hacked yet homebrew code will not run so creating emulator is a no go in the first place.
