Grand Theft Auto IV PC Launches November 18th

GTAIV for the PC has been announced, as expected. Launching on November 18th in North America, the brief press release states that the multiplayer component will be "expanded."
Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. , is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto IV will be arriving on the PC on November 18th and 21st in North America and Europe, respectively.
"We are very excited to be releasing the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC. The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can't wait for people to play it."
Developed by series creator Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, the latest installment in the enormously successful Grand Theft Auto series features a painstakingly detailed and life-like city for players to explore; a rich, immersive narrative experience; an original soundtrack highlighting the cultural eclecticism of Liberty City; and newly expanded multiplayer just for the PC.

None of the other GTA titles have been "usual console ports" So why would this be any different? Each time Rockstar has released the PC version of GTA (be it GTA3, VC or SA) they've improved upon it greatly.

I could quite happily pirate this after Rockstar delay the PC version 6 months but to be honest the hassle of making my internet slow for hours while it downloads and missing out on the improved multiplayer (unless i want to mess about with cracked servers) make me want to purchase it anyway. What's it gonna be? £35 at the most?
The only thing i'm wondering is... If it's available on steam and retail (they have recently put all their other games on steam so it's possible) that version will not be moddable right? The steam version will be more convenient for me but if it can't be modded i'll wait and get a boxed version.

What makes you think there won't be? aside from a cooked release of course, but the other games got modded eventhough it wasn't officially supported. |
