Posted: Sat, 9th Aug 2008 21:16 Post subject: Dilemma: Ordering Pizza |
|
 |
So I'm going to work tonight, and I haven't had a chance to do any grocery shopping. I'm not technically supposed to leave the premises tonight (I get paid a little extra for that in cash). So I want to order a pizza to work, HOWEVER, there is a huge thunderstorm going on.
I always wonder, and maybe anyone whos delivered pizza before can answer this. Do you feel like the person ordering the pizza is a douchebag for making you go out in the rain? Or are you happy you're there and getting the money (I leave 20-25% tips usually)?

My first job was in a pizza place. I think the delivery drivers didn't get paid by the hour, they got $2 for every order they delivered plus tip. The car and gas was provided for. Anyway they delivered in rain, snow, and ice. I never did it but they never complained. Usually it is a designated delievery driver. 20-25 % of a tip is way too much imo. 15% is plenty.
If you feel bad you could always leave early for work and buy the pizza ahead of time and do a pick up.

I like leaving big tips, I'm always appreciative of people in service.

A good tip for service is 15-20. I am not rich so I don't tip more than that. I also treat servers with respect, and thank them for service.
I heard this story from a couple of guys, they swear it is true. Downtown there is a bar and there is this rich woman tipper comes in. Aparently she is hot too, big fake boobs, What the tip is really for is so she can do her weird sex thing which is peeing on men. She tips like $1,000 to the bartender and leaves after her little show. She stands on the table or bar and is only there under a hour and the bartender who gets the tip cleans the mess up.
I don't believe this story because it is just gross and I think the public would complain, the health inspector would be called in. You never know tho.
Sorry to wreck your yummy pizza thoughts with my gross story.

I tipped a delivery guy £1.50 the other night. (3 dollars or so) That's more than enough. Just say he gets that from every customer he services that night, and lets say 20 customers.
That's about 60$. Just on tips.. so if what pistol says is right he gets 2$ for every delivery, 2 x 20 = 40 + 60 = 100$ per night. That isn't bad at all.

It isn't bad considering it is under the table, well the tips are. A clerical person starting out in an office makes about 400-500/week take home for a 40 hr week. They do have benifits at least not so with delivery drivers. It would suck on a slow or bad night.
It could be a decent job for a student working during the busy times in the evening, as long as it wasn't their gas or car. I am always reading about them getting jumped and hit in the head with a steal pipe.

I leave my tips on the credit card, and I'm not rich either, but I just like to tip really well.. I dunno, something my family has always been about, so I grew up doing it.
My best friends sister serves at the keg and makes $300-500/night in tips.

My brother use to deliver pizza's and he never complained about the weather. He use to make damn good money from the tips alone the paycheck wasn't nearly as important as the tips. Order the pizza the guy pretty much depends on people like yourself everyone wins in the end if you do.
pistolshrimp my brother actually was jumped from behind and caused a major head injury was was to afraid of going back to work after. He got a order and went out only to find that no one was home when he got there. As he continued to knock he was attacked from behind. They robbed him and just left him there knocked out and bleeding profusely on the ground. So its a damn dangerous job because its so easy to fall into a trap like my brother did.

I don't tip, but u generally don't tip as much in Denmark as in other countries.
I tip restaurants etc, though.
8 out of 10 dentists prefer zipfero to competing brands(fraich3 and Mutantius)!

Since the pizza deliveries here always forget something (like your soda, or anything else) I never tip.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

No, for the money you have from all the other deliveries.
Nuke
Here some of the pizza guys were going to street orders made from payphone. Idiots. Taxi cab drivers get robbed alot too. Hope your bro is ok now.

We tip about almost everything here. Actually you have to tip 15% in restaurants, bars and etc.
I give the pizza deliverers who are driving from a few streets away about $3.5. Burger Deliveries from the city center - 6$. And in restaurants 15-20%. It's very common to tip here, almost mandatory.

Yea, I always tip my barber really big, I remember I went in like 3 days before Christmas. We were complaining about our bosses, it was a nice conversation. Woman was very asian, didn't speak the best english, but it was fun nonetheless. I tipped her like 40 bucks on a 20 dollar haircut.
