They did, A-A, they did!
I REALLY hope the scene is released today, I've been waiting for this game for months!
Please, please, please RLD, anyone, release it today!
PS: I read in a German site (Atari's site?) that the game will come on 3 CDs, though the reqs state you need 1.2 GBs free on your hard drive, which is kinda contradictory.

great fun, and the cloth map included adds to the feeling, game isnt "too advanced" but enough to be fun without leaving anyone behind. Need to go back and play now, it captures the original "Pirates!" feel very well, and let me tell you: this is NOT a xbox port.

Well, the interface is well laid out, and nice upon the eyes, each icons function is pretty obvious. The graphics are as you might expect GREAT the game just feels complete, in a world of warcraft cartoony kind of way, without being "childish", there is blood on the decks when you attack other ships, or they 'gasp' attack you!.
You start out as you might imagine the same way as you did in the old Pirates! with a small sloop and have to work your way towards a better ship almost imediatly this can of course be done in alot of ways and only your imaginatoin sets the limits.
You can work hunting pirates our being a pirate, buy a letter of marque from your prefered nation and start hunting their ships down or if your feeling brave attack their towns!. I'm still only in my frigate so not about to attack a town just yet, but its funny destroying all the merchant ships on a opposing town, and thus starve them out... i have a theory about keep on doing this and then attack when their all starving or alot have starved to death .
I bought a treasure map from an old sod a a tavern but it was not possible by the looks of it to figure out exactly where this treasure might be, as you could in the old Pirates!, trust me i have studied my cloth map throughroughly!.
Sea battles are great because they are not in "closed" areas meaning tbattles are fought on the same map which you do your traveling on so you can see the islands of the caribbean in the distance -really adds to the atmosphere!.
The background music doesnt interfere with the game but adds to the atmosphere in a monkey island 1 sort of way. The sword battles are really dynamic kicking to a barrel and watch the enemy captain get knocked out by a falling vase! its just full of humour like this, really great fun!.
My mini review must stop here, because i must set sail and starve that town!. but this game is a CLASSIC in my books. and i imagine even if i do "complete" the game which you cant i will just start over and try something else.
